Let's get started!
Step 1: Start With the Floors
Try to go with a light colored carpeting, or cover your wood floors with floral, pastel area rugs. Or, if you have a hardwood floor in your bedroom, consider sanding it and painting it white, or pickling it. Step 2: Redo the Walls
If you're having trouble choosing a paint color, try taking your bedspread or other accent pieces with you to the paint store.
Step 3: Take a Good Look at Your Bed
Your bed is the centerpiece of your Shabby Chic bedroom. Look for a wrought iron headboard or a rustic wood headboard, either of which can be painted white or a pastel color. Click here to find out how to paint furniture in the Shabby Chic style. You can also make a headboard out of a piece of trellis or by attaching a section of wood fencing to the wall. Again, paint it white or a pale color and distress it as described in the article referenced above.
Faded rose print bed sheets are great on your bed as well as vintage inspired florals, stripes, and patterns in Shabby Chic pastels. Choose floral or pastel striped bedspreads, quilts, or comforters. Or cover your bed with a chenille bedspread. Mix and match your patterns and textures.
