How to Create Your Own Free Websites Using These Trusted and Easy to Use Web Companies!

Are you looking for your own website, but don't know where to start? Did you know that there are hundreds of websites that offer your own free domain? You can start your own blog, your own website, or just a single page on the web at no cost to you. Listed here are some of the best ways to create your own free websites, whether you already have a site or would like to start creating web content today without paying for it.

Create Your Own Free Websites Using One of These Free Services

A list of 100% free websites for you to use!

Webs.com
Webs.com allows you to create your own free website ("that's as unique as you"), and gives you simple tools that anyone can use to upload your photos, create blogs, online profiles, and encourage interaction from visitors.

Weebly.com
Weebly is similar to Webs.com, allowing you to create your own free website from scratch. It doesn't require any technical skills at all, you'll just use their easy creation tools to add the photos, text, extra pages and any other content.

Wetpaint.com
I was impressed by some of the customization that was allowed with this website! There are impressive fan pages set up for TV shows like American Idol and Terminator that look just as great as any other website I've visited. This means you can do the same thing! So go ahead, get started on this free website and upload your content.

Geocities.com
Unfortunately, Geocities has closed for good. Here's what it once was:
Geocities is Yahoo's free website builder, where you can build free webpages with the "geocities.com" domain attached to it. For example, if you wanted your own domain name called billschairs.com, your geocities URL would be geocities.com/billschairs.

Synthasite
No ads, no banners. That's a big thing! Synthasite doesn't have the distractions of ads being placed on your website, it's yours, and that's that. It's soon becoming Yola.com, which is a little easier to remember.

Jimdo
Jimdo is another site allowing free webpages, with 500MB storage, unlimited usage, unlimited pages, and easy integration of pictures and videos.

Sampa
Sampa is also free, but is used mainly for people looking to share photos, stories and events with family and friends. A great way for family and friends to keep in touch!

FusiveWeb
Create a flash photo player, upload your own music, and create as many FusiveWeb pages as you desire with the easy to use page builder that FusiveWeb offers.

Webnode
Webnode.com is a free website builder that has progressed with the modern times of the web 2.0 world. You can add widgets and gadgets to your site to offer polls, offer PayPal, customized templates, and simplistic drag and drop technology.

Update: apparently Google sites is a little too advanced for me, the beginner. I thought I was just signing in to start the process, right after I chose my theme, but it published it right then, with no changes made to it. I'm not as impressed with their themes as I was with Yola's either. As for WebStarts, the site is really super cool but I can't figure out how to publish it to the web and I'm not exactly sure it's free. I'll update you on that later, for now though, gotta go catch some zzzz's. Question for you, Kiwisoutback, is it really necessary to have more than one website? I've basically decided I'll get as many free ones as I can then switch it to a paid site with my own domain when I have more biz capital (spelled "moolah"). By then I should know which one is the best performer.

Thanks for all of this information and your experiences with Yola, Webstarts, and Google Sites!

As for having more than one free site, it's not necessary per se, but might be beneficial. I use Blogger blogs to drive traffic to Squidoo lenses, for example, and have created quite a few that focus on different niches. It seems to work out much better to have one for each niche (assuming you have plenty to write about and plenty of other online work to promote). This same tactic can also dilute your work and make the site a little thin, so you have to weigh out the benefits.

Most of the Blogger blogs I've set up have performed fairly well, and have driven plenty of traffic over the years.

Some feedback... I went to WebStarts, Google Sites and Yola to create a site. My Yola site is published (I think it's pretty cool. Go here if you want to check it out: http://uniqueeyeattransformations.yolasite.com). I'm still reading tutorials and such to try to figure out how to get the other two up and running. I checked out WetPaint.com too, but I didn't see any way of creating a site there. Hope this is helpful. Thanks to Kiwisoutback for this informative article!

Fantastic list of sites! I knew about a few of them, and will definitely be creating more free sites on each. The more I can promote my main site by creating a "fan site" with free sites, the more traffic I will receive, in theory.

Why should you make your own websites?

There are many reasons for this one of the most frequently cited is cost efficiency. Some designers can charge significant amounts of money which can literally prove economically unfeasible for some.
