Create a Music Lover’s Media Room
Ranked #74,477 in Home & Garden, #1,175,868 overall
What better place to display your love of music than a media room? The focus is already on music, movies and electronic equipment. Instead of hiding CDs, DVDs, sound system, speakers and the flat screen TV, as you would in a living room, you can let these necessary items contribute to the atmosphere of the room by displaying CDs in open racks, hanging speakers on the wall and housing all electrical component in an open console under the flat screen. Use a musical theme to pull it all together: For some people, country music might be the theme within the theme, for someone else it could be the Beatles, Elvis or the smooth sounds of jazz or the Big Band Era.

Wall Decor that Sets the Stage
If the Fab Four is going to be your theme, why not feature a focal wall with wall paper in iconic Beatles album covers or photographs. Do an online search for wallpapers of famous photos and album jackets. You can take the same approach for any favorite musical personality, from Elvis to Michael Jackson.
If you're going with a country music theme, images of the Grand Ole' Opry, Nashville's Music Row and country music personalities from every era can create a collage on one wall or be used as a border throughout the room. Use metal art sculpture of guitars, banjos and fiddles interspersed with your photos, posters and memorabilia.
Another approach is to leave your walls simple and create groupings of framed posters along with other memorabilia, such as framed autographs and concert tickets. Create your own posters with album jackets, CD jackets and celebrity photos. If you don't want to use originals, make copies then cut out images and decoupage them in collage style on poster board; mat and frame as desired.
Underscore your Musical Theme
1. Throw pillows, lamps, books and other accents add special touches to any room, but make them theme-specific in your media room. Another online search will reveal sources for decorative items in musical and artist motifs or create your own. Iron-on transfers can turn any fabric into a Beatles, Elvis or Patsy Cline pillow. Keep your decoupage supplies on hand to dress up a plain lamps shade with photos of artists and related subjects from a particular musical genre or era.2. Add coffee table books or vintage magazines on your chosen artist or musical category. Sheet music and musical scores add more interest when framed and propped on top of a fireplace mantle or open shelf.
3. If you have guitars or other instruments that tie into your theme hang them from the wall. Check resale and pawn shops for used instruments, microphones or karaoke systems that can be picked up for bargain prices and used for display or fun at your next party. Turn an old amplifier into a side table by mounting a cut glass table on top or gut an old piano and turn it into a bar perfect for entertaining friends.

- Ahh the film and music lovers domain. Every music enthusiast needs a dedicated space to practice their art; playing 'air drums' conducting the orchestra, etc!
