How to Make Money: Make Your Own Rainbow and Pot of Gold

Your Pot of Gold is Within You

Is your dream job or dream income just like a rainbow that is too far away? Instead of trying to reach for that one, make your own so it is in your hand. Wealth requires work, which for the majority of people requires a lot of work. Only a small percentage of the population barely has to work. There are many ways of making a decent living beyond paycheck to paycheck and this article will cover some of these ideas. The two main areas of focus are working hard and working smart.

There are also good books to read which are added below as well. Information is vital for everything from relationship to work. Lack of information means things have a greater chance of going wrong. Processing information incorrectly will also have the same effect but education and experience will help you.

Whether you work for yourself or someone else, the same principles apply. Some people and companies have lost touch with some of the suggestions while other people and companies still hold true to core values. Not everything is complex. Many success businesses use simplicity to avoid confusion on all levels. That is applying the work hard and work smart ethic.

Like a rainbow it is not easy but like a rainbow once you get there it is beautiful. For that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you will find it within yourself. Use your skills and knowledge instead of storing it inside for one reason or another. Once you use the greatest resource which is you, you will find that your pot of gold has been inside you this whole time. It is waiting to be found by you, so discover it and live comfortably rather than paycheck to paycheck.

Work Smart

Are you missing that pot of gold at the end your rainbow? Is the rainbow really tiny with no pot of gold in sight? Dreaming and making that dream or rainbow is not as easy. Making money looks really easy and some are just more talented at it than others. Regardless, you have to work hard, smart and keep a balanced perspective for your employer or as your own boss. If you want that pot of gold, make your own rainbow.

If you are one of the many who struggle from paycheck to paycheck and can barely pay bills, let alone save money and like to frown upon all the wealthy people, take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror. Why? Because what are you doing to improve that situation? First you need to work smart. Almost everyone would love to live a life of luxury but if you cannot maintain your own lifestyle, don't put yourself in credit card debt just to be like your neighbor and go to the movies every weekend and eat out all the time. Just spend your money wiser.

Buy generic labels when appropriate. If you research some of the generic brands, they are the same exact thing as the name brands. Other generic brands are not so much. Also wait for sales even though you may want it right now. Wait to reward yourself at appropriate times but still be frugal about it. This might seem out of place but being wealthier means keeping more of what you earn and not spending it frivolously because you all of sudden made a huge amount of money.

Spend big in all the right places not just everywhere because you can. This is where being smart plays a vital factor. Using good judgment about what little money you do earn will make you be able to afford the things you need. It is of no benefit to you to just complain about not being paid your worth and keep doing the same thing. You need to do something different!

How does this make you money so far? You retain more of what you make, which is how you stay in business. Successful businesses do not jump on every opportunity, just the ones that seem right to them. Usually it pays off and sometimes it fails but that is life.

Work Hard

You will not get out of the paycheck to paycheck rut unless you make it happen. Even being lazy takes work if you think about it. This is not to condone laziness but to a workaholic being lazy is not any easier than trying to make a lazy person work. The lazy person's income requires work from someone or a group of people. So don't be lazy and wait for money to come to you because you feel you are entitled to it after working so much for next to nothing.

In the case of unemployment that is a double-edged sword because too many "lazy" people live off the work of others and others truly cannot find work in their expertise because of age, salary, experience. One of the benefits of living in a "connected" society is that it is easier to make a name for yourself if you choose to be your own boss rather than being an employee of someone else.

For example if you have basic writing skills, you can at least start off writing in between finding jobs. A beginner tends to make little to no money but it might open a career door for you because a company suddenly finds you valuable. You are more than just a written resume. It will also make you better for your own career by practicing good writing habits. Even if you are forced to get unemployment, you are entitled to it after working all your life and suddenly the company went bankrupt or there was massive layoffs.

If you put in the hard work, the time spent unemployed might be that break you needed after all. A hard-working individual will not abuse the system and a smart person will make this low point in their life their next career opportunity. Also you are trying to find work so it's not like you are just doing absolutely nothing for that paycheck unlike those who abuse the system.

This might be a good time to brush up on some reading and figure out the obstacles in your path. Why are you a HR red flag? Human Resources is more complex than just hiring and firing people. There are many variables, so it might be a good opportunity to understand that better so you can revise your resume or respond differently at your interview. Instead of acting like you need the job, make that employer need you.

Keep Working Hard and Don't Give Up Yet

Are you waiting for an opportunity to come your way because you see it happen to others? Think about why the opportunity came to them in the first place. Is what you saw the full picture or just a thumbnail? "The River," a song by Garth Brooks sums it up best, "Don't just stand upon the shoreline and be satisfied. Dare to dance the rapids and choose to chance the tides." If you work on improving your situation, the opportunities will be there because you took a chance and created them.

Here's another idea to ponder. Are you good at something? Try to make it a career instead of just a hobby. Why be good at something and not get paid for it? Become your own boss and make the next big brand name or become successful enough that you do not have to work for an employer. If your hobby does not pay a lot at first or even at all, work on it as a side job because even $10 a month adds up to $120 extra money by the end of year. experience will lead to money and you are still better off doing that than having none at all.

Although you cannot live off such little income, it is a start to a more worthwhile career because it will be something you like to do and it can boost your income to a more comfortable level. You may not end up the millionaire but being able to buy what you want or travel freely is a nice perk. What's the downside to all of this? Most people like instant gratification and split-second results. Part of the fault is technology which brings information to us faster and faster. Being very successful is rarely like that. Behind the scenes of almost all big brands and hugely successful people are the untold or rarely told stories of mistakes, rejections, and everything else negative.

Work Hard through Innovation

No one wants to be a failure but a failure is someone who does not turn that mistake into a success. For example, Gordon Ramsey did it and tried helping other restaurant owner in his series, Kitchen Nightmares. Just from watching that program, you can see that being truly successful is harder than it looks and there is a lot of resistance. It takes work. Is it easier to live paycheck to paycheck and not test or push your boundaries? Yes. Will that make you more money? No.

Being innovative will help you stand out amongst the rest or at least enable you to compete well enough. This does not mean you have to necessarily create something new like another element. Create something fresh. Revamp something that exists to make it better. One of 3M's mottos I remember when I was growing up was this: We don't make a lot of the products you buy. We make a lot of the products you buy better. That is a great business model because adapting to the ever-changing needs and want of consumers will help you survive.

There are many resources out there that are useful, which could become even better by your ideas. Other resources in their current state if modified that could become very beneficial. There are also many boring things out there, which can become trendy. How do you make that happen? Work hard and work smart.
