What better way to document an event than with pictures. What better way to keep your pictures than with a photo album.
So what could be a better gift idea to yourself, your family, friends or clients than a personalized photo album.
Personalizing a photo album is as simple as cutting and pasting a few items to empty pages in the book to create any type theme you wish.
With the right materials and a few instructions you will be making these adorable albums for you, your friends and family.

Begin with a Basic Photo Album

A store bought photo album will do fine. I prefer to find the albums with memo areas to the side of the picture inserts. I find that they give a nicer detail for writing memory notes of your favorite pictures.
I try to make sure the front cover is plan so that I make decorate it as I would like to see. A smooth front cover makes it easier to dress up and work with.
Collect Memorabilia
Once you have decided what you want your photo album to be about, make sure to collect memorabilia from your event.Keep everything that you think you might use. Don't be afraid to save too much. Better to have too much and not use than to want to use and not have it.
In this photo and the ones below are of a child's 1st birthday party scrapbook photo album I used party napkins, streamers, party theme decorations, the invitation and thank you notes to commemorate her first birthday.

Where Do I Begin?
gather supplies
When you have collected memorabilia from the event you wish to create your photo album about and have purchased your plain front photo album, finish pulling your supplies together.Decide what pictures you would like to use in your album. If you take digital pictures you will need to take your time to have your favorites processed.
Here is a list of additional supplies you may need to begin and complete your photo album project.

- Paper Cutter
Create a Personalized Photo Album by Decorating the Front Album Cover
Decide your Theme
Front covers can be as simple or as elaporate as you want to deal with. This example here is just a simple plaque found in the scrapbooking dept of a craft store.
For a full effect I added letter stickers found a few isles over. There is a large selection and they hold up very well and make a nice impression. It's gives an immediate embossed effect and all you need to do is peel and stick. Of course you want to take care to lining up your lettering.
Below you will find more samples fronts I have done. When I began I started with very simple designs shown here but as I became more comfortable with my techniques I became more elaborate. Sometimes the simpliest is the best and cleanest look. But it's all a personal preference.
Front Cover Supplies
Maybe you went to visit the Lego Plant, or a Fall visit to Canada or maybe you went scuba diving. What ever your event find or create some type of embellishment to commemorate your trip or event.
Use letter stickers to create your sayings. It's easy and fun to do. You are only limited by your imagination.

Create a Theme Page
Tell a Story
Creating a theme page on the inside is the anchor for creating your personalization to your photo album.
By adding stickers and mementos from the event will create your own special scrapbook photo album. All you will need now is to add the photos to complete your one of a kind keepsake.
I always try to do a layout draft by just scribbling an idea on a scrap piece of paper to help me collect and keep my thoughts from getting jumbled.
Here below are some suggestions of stickers that may get your imagination started.
Added Embellishments
to compliment your themed photo album
- 1A ribbon bookmark.
- 2Add a charm to the ribbon bookmark.
- 3Create photo frames for the individual photo pages. Using specialty paper based on the theme of you album increases the personal touches.
- 4Create a 'Compliments of' or 'Created By' information section on the front inside cover so the recipient always remembers who the gift was from.
- 5Create an additional scrapbook page on another empty page, inside Cover for example. Dedicate this page to an additional activity that the album theme will be based on.
- 6Turn the photo album into a portfolio of your work. Decorate the album based on your specialty.
