What Is A Man Cave?

A man cave is a retreat for men - a home away from home so to speak. A place where manly men can do manly things without fear of intrusion. It is where sports and video games rule the TV. The refrigerator is always full of your favorite manly drink and there is no need to worry about crumbs because a Dust Buster is at hand. The furniture in a man cave is designed for maximum comfort, maximum usability and maximum stain hiding material (or at least material that is easy to clean because you can only flip a cushion once). The man cave is where a man has his manly man friends over so they can revel in his awesomeness wishing they were just half the man their host is. Most of all - the man cave is a place where anything goes - at least when it comes to decorating. Color schemes can match a favorite team. Furniture styles don't need to match - it's all about manhood things being done by men!

The Man Cave Basics

To make a truly rocking man cave you need to start with a few basic items - advanced man caving gets into the peripherals. You need a couch - not a love seat. A love seat is fine as a secondary landing spot for overflow bros, especially if it folds out into a bed, but you need something that can hold at least three grown manly men with space between each other. It's also great for those solo times when you need to stretch out. You need a recliner that holds you the way only a good recliner can. It knows when your feet need to be up or down and supports either decision. It gives you solid arm rests to give the pythons a break after a long day. Ideally, it comes equipped with a chemical toilet, but that again will be discussed in advanced man caving.

Manly Storage For manly Things

A big part of what makes any man cave work is toys. Televisions, stereos, video games, trophies from sports you haven't played IRL in years and momentos that show you are not just a fan of whoever you root for but a rabid foaming at the mouth super fan whose loyalty will never be questioned need a way to be safeguarded and displayed. To do this we outfit our man cave with entertainment centers, bookcases and manly benches. Benches that open up and allow you toss whatever it is you need to toss in a secure place where it won't be seen or trampled by jumping, wildly celebrating man cave visitors. You know you need someplace to put those clothes you haven't taken to the laundry yet as well as someplace to stash those baseball cards you've been buying your wife doesn't know about.

Rounding Out The Man Cave Basics

While manly men eat things they just stalked and killed, or microwaveable goodies, while lounging in a chair with nothing between them and their furniture but a paper towel, you need someplace to put things down. Where do you put your drink? Where do you leave your cellphone? Where do you toss those paper towels when they have finished serving their purpose - or place a lamp just in case you like light? The answer is end tables and coffee tables - but feel free to call them something manlier if you like! A coffee table that can support the weight of a manly man's tired feet and a spread of man snacks is a necessity. End tables make great beverage landing docks where they remain close at and when you weant their cool goodness.
