Compared To The 1800's California Gold Rush
Do you fancy yourself a online money making cash sucking entrepreneur? You do? How many businesses have you been involved in and are successful at? The reason I ask is many people are trying to get rich online. I personally would compare it to the California gold rush of the 1800's.
I half suspect though that analogy is not quite as similar in all aspects when you compare the two scenarios. For example with in the 1800's gold rush, there were clearly two separately defined "grunts on the ground" so to speak. You had the people singularly involved in the search for gold. You then had the men who ran businesses to supply the gold seekers with the needed supplies.
Gold was clearly the end product that it all revolved around. Now in comparison, if you were applying the same standards, twists and turns to the gold rush as to modern day online wealth seeking, one would find all of the gold seekers selling shovels, pans, picks, food tents, and other supplies as an addition to their gold seeking activities. You may not have in fact any legitimate singularly involved gold seekers who were doing that and that alone.,
Now I said "grunts on the ground" for a reason, because many people trying to earn money online are not a business entity per se. Let's say, not accurately, that 90% of the people seeking online income fall with in this scenario, that they are not a large online business, but just an individual. So what are they doing online? What are they attempting to sell? Well simplistically put, they are all trying to sell to a large degree "ways to make money" ..to each other.
Do you understand what I just said there? I'm trying to sell to you "how to make money online" techniques and you're trying to sell to me the same thing. But it doesn't end there my friend, oh no. We are selling the tools of how to accomplish that as well. What are some of the tools? Well you are probably aware of them as well as me. A short list would include auto-responders, software for accomplishing this task or that task etc.. You then have all the different types of traffic generating techniques that are up for sale in one form or another.
Clearly it is all a cluster fug. It is mind boggling to say the least. And here comes the cherry on top..wait for it.. To add to the fun, we all change what we're doing almost daily. To say a lot of people flip flop at least once from one thing to another thing at least weekly is probably an understatement.
Now here comes the useful part, what we can do differently to improve our chances of success. When you look at all the big successful online businesses like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, you name it. All the successful stores online have a few things in common. They all are singularly focused through their known business entity towards their monetization goals consistently. What? What I meant is next week, next month, next year Google is still going to be called Google, Amazon is still going to be called Amazon. Do you see what I mean?
The benefit in focusing your effort on one business entity is your effort compounds. All your good SEO effort that you are doing today for example will still be adding towards your goals next year. Think I am wrong? If you are called ACME ONLINE CHICKEN FARM this month and all your hard written articles point back to your site, well all that effort is just going to be wasted when next week you change your business to CLARENCES BIG AUTO-INSURANCE EMPORIUM.,
SEO is kind of like seasoned beef or aged wine. It takes a while after the ingredients are brewed or put together to get the best results. For instance I have found on a lot of keyword searches that the top Google results are caches pages that go back as far as 2005 and such. Some of these sites may not even be in existence anymore, but that doesn't matter.,
Another good example a long these lines is just because you might be called Bobs Enterprises, you don't have to try to sell everything under the sun from one site. That defuses your efforts. It would be better if you marketed one product or service and marketed that through targeting the keywords that one would use to seek out that product. Enhancing that scenario would be if a searcher ended up in your site through a search that offered just that product and nothing else. Give a person to many choices is not a good situation on line.

Simplified For Todays Internet
Skip forward a couple of decades when I acquired my first cell phone. I remember calling a friend and asked her if she knew where I was calling from. She said "No" and I told her from inside Wal Mart, and I said do you know why and she No, and I said, because I can. And I hung up all pleased with my self at my acquirement of such high technology.
The internet had been around a couple of years before I acquired my first computer, but when I bought it and got online, almost from the start I jumped into the internet with both feet and started trying to find ways of creating wealth from home utilizing the online possibilities. My first successful venture came from affiliate marketing. It was an earlier form, not quite as advanced as today, but none the less, it paid me pretty well.
That was actually a bit more complicated than affiliate marketing by toady's standards. It was pre-clickbank with no instantaneous downloads or payments. A customer went to my website that I had to edit and upload myself. They had to download an .exe program that explained everything, or order the program to be delivered via postal mail. If they ordered, they mailed me $75, I kept $50 and mailed $25 to the vendor in Canada. Who delivered the product to the customer via snail mail. The only thing that expedited the process was that I emailed the vendor upon receipt of the customers order, supplied him with their details and he initiated the fulfillment of the order then.
By today's affiliate marketing standards, the whole process was clunky and cumbersome, however it had something going for it that I believe has been lost today. Do you know what that is? People back then had more of a naivete of the belief in the brite shiney objects that money making opportunities often appear to be. And there wasn't as many of them out there. Believe me, mine was as hyped as they can be. I actually ran small classified ads in joke a day email lists that people were subscribed to. My ad promised that they could make a couple of hundred grand a year or so and people actually looked at the ad, went to my spiffy one page basic html website and said "heck yeah".
If you are reading this you are probably thinking of all the times you are constantly exposed to people promoting the best way to get rich on the planet today and that also has ever existed before in the history of all mankind, correct? And what is similar about them all is that they all are set up to instantaneously take your money and deliver you a digitally down loadable information product with in a minute or two of you hitting the payment button. Oh there are other types that get into a bit more detail but the crux to the money making opportunities are somewhat like that.
If you are just starting out in contemplation that maybe the internet can help you in creating wealth from home, consider this, once you wet your feet into the world of internet marketing you will start to be deluged with almost hourly offers of the newest and latest surefire method for you to get rich from being online. If you are not totally familiar with some of the methods that are being promoted out there just go onto Craigslist job postings or just Google search the term money making opportunity. You will find after an hour or so of looking at the various possibilities that your brain is half fried and you haven't even made a dent in the available opportunities.
Can a person get rich on the internet or dare we say get rich? Yes, but what might be a better question, can you make money on the internet in today's competitive market? I would say yes, but it takes an investment of your part of your time and your money and you also have to learn to simplify the process. This is not an attempt to make you an expert or teach you all there is to know out there. Heck if I knew all that, I would be one of the big names and making millions.
But I can pass on some tips that will help you. You can't absorb everything you get sent, quit trying to. It will fry your brain and detract you from doing something productive that could make you money. Don't build a website that offers everything under the sun to all people. You might see an attraction in it and you might fashion it as the next Yahoo or something, but honestly it the sort of traffic you attract will wander all over your site, maybe even in awe, but seldom buy anything.
Narrow your sites and pin point your focus to a single product and single keyword at a time. The reality of that last statement is you want to dominate a keyword that when a person types it into Google they see your site at the top of page one. Their keyword is in relation to a product or service they want right now. They click over to your website and that is all they see, the product they want, and all the compelling reasons they should buy it from you right that second. You don't want the traffic that just arrived to be distracted by something they didn't search for and have numerous choices to consider.
Make things as easy as possible for yourself by setting up an automated process that handles everything for you when the potential customer arrives on your website. All this leaves you is the advertising which can be as easy, cheap, hard and expensive as you make it. Advertising is a reality that has to be tackled no matter what else you have to do, so by eliminating other chores makes you less work.

This presentation isn't for everybody. But it's a great starting point for two types of people: 1) Those who are familiar with personal development or self help but have no idea why it should work; 2) Those who are familiar with quantum physics (hello, all you What the Bleepers) but don't know how to ground those theories into physical and tangible results.
Think of it as a bridge in between "What the Bleep" and "The Secret".
