Creating your Own Bathroom Spa with Wall Art

Ranked #17,359 in Home & Garden, #247,907 overall

While you may never think of artwork as being an important to your bathroom, it really is. You want to create a room that is pleasant to be in while you are preparing for your day, or while you are getting ready to call it a day. Try using some of these decorating tips in your bathroom to make it a more interesting and relaxing space.

Pick a Theme

Bathrooms can be relaxing and bathrooms can be energizing, and how you put your room together determines which aesthetic you create. One of the most fun themes to pull off in a bathroom is a tropical theme. Adding a piece of metallic wall art in the shape of a palm tree gives interest and dimension to your wall. Then adding a hibiscus print shower curtain and a clear vase filled with seashells pulls the whole theme together.

You may also want to consider a crisp navy blue and white nautical decor. Adding a sailboat printed shower curtain, porthole shaped picture frames with sea animals and striped towels gives your bathroom a well-balanced and interesting design.

Add Artwork to the Walls

One of the quickest ways to add interest to a room is to add paint or a mosaic on your wall. With a theme, you can use your paint and color scheme to enhance the theme. If you do not have a theme, you can simply pick a bold color that you like and design your room around it. You can even work some three dimensional artwork into your mural to add interest and texture to your wall. For example, if you are painting a mural of a sunny garden, you may wish to add a hanging wall vase and fill it with flowers.

Own the Space

When you decorate any room in your home, it should reflect your personality at least in some small way. By expressing your taste in the style of cabinets and shelving or even in your bathroom fixtures, you begin to make the space your own. You can even use your choice of theme or colors to be reflective of your personality. While you can always follow decorating trends, you may prefer to inject your own aesthetic into the room's design instead.

Find a Fragrance

Add a signature fragrance to your bathroom to make it pleasant to be in. For example, if you love the smell of lavender you may want to fill your room with scented soaps, and potpourri to create a lovely, lavender experience in your bathroom space. Of course, you will also want to add to the serene experience with lots of fragrant candles in holders and displayed in candle wall sculptures.

Do not hang oil paintings in the bathroom

As you are designing an interesting bathroom space, remember that if your bathroom gets humid photographs and oil paintings are not a good choice for this space, because the dampness can damage the artwork. Metal artwork is a perfect complement to the dor in your bathroom when you want to add interest to your walls.

Adding something interesting to your walls is one of the best ways to make your bathroom design both interesting and beautiful, and along with your fixtures builds a personal and unique space for you to enjoy.
