A showcase of great gifts from my zazzle artwork

Here I've listed some of my best creative gifts for Zazzle.com. My gift shop contains hand crafted traditional and digital works of art. Zazzle then prints them on to high quality products such as postage stamps, mouse pads, necklaces and other products on demand.

This page gives me a better opportunity to fully explain my work, whereas in the item descriptions at Zazzle we are only supposed to describe the image itself.

I've also handpicked some of my favorite gifts from other artists and designers from all over the internet.

Latest update: May 28, 2012.

Snakes in combat

Fighting reptile gifts.

Original ink drawing, before digital clean up. 2.5" X 3.5"

This drawing was artistically off the beaten path for me, as I don't normally draw with ink.

The inspiration came from a nature show that I saw from years earlier that depicted cobras in a twisted mating ritual. I can't remember the name of the show, but the image must have made a lasting impression on me. I realized after I drew this one that some people may not get it.. Since the mating ritual is both beautiful and violent, I decided to name the piece, "snakes in combat."

For zazzle, I had to digitally clean the image to get rid of some of the blops and bring out the blacks. I did keep the postage stamp closer to the original, but did remove the paper background. After seeing the tee shirt in person, this turned out to be a good move. The lines were crisp and the snakes looked better printed then on the screen or the original drawing.

Mating Cobras - Inspiration for Snakes in combat.

Is this love? Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more!

This video is not the exact footage that gave me the inspiration for the snakes in combat drawing, but I thought it would give a pretty good idea.

Coffee Time painting.

Coffee gifts.

This is one of my favorite digital paintings because it's about my most beloved addictions, coffee.

The project originally started as an exercise to loosen up, or become more painterly. In the end I was extremely pleased with the results and decided to upload it in to zazzle. I am sure glad I did because the coffee time magnet and the small postage stamps are my best selling products to date. I only wish I would have painted it bigger, that was a painful lesson to learn in digital painting.

One last note, lots of coffee was consumed in the making of this painting.

Just click on the thumbnails to grab yourself a cup, or show it some loving.

Cameo portrait

This cameo was digitally painted with Zazzles shoes in mind, but at least for now they have discontinued the shoes, which has me a little bummed. I wanted this design to be simple, elegant. I think they may have turned out a little too simple because they do not reflect all the hard work put in to painting them.

Here is the good news, it turns out that the cameo looks better on other things. The mouse pad and small stamps are a good example of this.
I also thought she would look neat without the bow. Let me know what you think?

Soft pink rose

This was the first painting I uploaded in to Zazzle back in 2006. It was also my first complete digital painting using the same technique as oil painting. Corel painter makes this possible.

This painting also falls victim to my lack of knowledge about sizing back then, so she only fits on certain products.
I painted this rose with some of the ugliest, dirty pinks I could mix on Corels mixer pad. I like it that way. Ugly color produces some of the most beautiful things. It also gives your bright and pretty colors something to stand next to and pop!

Artists Self-portrait

It's pretty goofy to put ones self on a stamp.

Self portrait 9" x 12" drawn with graphite and charcoal, printed on a US postage stamp. I wanted to travel the world for free. Self portrait, fine art stamp. stamp

Bacchante mythology postage, after Jean Leon Gerome

Image was drawn with graphite, charcoal and white pastel.

Mythology Postage stampsBacchante postage by Shannon Fleet

My old master study after one of my favorite artists. Printed on a US postage stamp. This drawing was a labor of love, and is also my squidoo avatar.

Ankle Slayer, Platform stiletto shoe

Ankle slayer, platform stiletto high heel shoe. Drawn with pastel pencils, 2.5" x 3.5". This is a real shoe folks the heel was 14" high If I remember correctly. Here they are printed on US postage stamps.

Celebration of spring

Celebration of spring, 2.5" X 3.5" Original is a miniature, recycled paper mosaic, created with teeny tiny paper flecks. Tools used were, a tooth pick, clear nail polish, toe nail scissors and spit. Yes, I said spit. Here it's printed on a US postage stamp. This piece represents springs promise of renewal, though sometimes spring lies about that.

Beautiful collection of artwork here. I really love your self-portrait. Your work is wonderful; I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my Artist Block lens, and for liking it. I'm so glad it is helping you to work through your artist's block. I can't believe how long I've been working on this painting. Lol! And as you can see, I can't make up my mind. :)

Like you, I'm not at a loss for ideas, it's the part of carrying them out. I also experience extreme anxiety lately while painting, and don't have a whole lot of confidence in my abilities. Like you, I'm also an introvert. In fact, you can even say I have social anxiety disorder.

Anyway, thank you so much, and I hope you get over your artist's block very, very soon. ((((HUGS!))))
  • Morgannafay Nov 17, 2011 @ 3:34 pm | delete
Thanks a bunch Blonde. You should do what you can to grab that confidence, because that Wizard of oz painting was simply adorable! I know, I know it's easier said then done though. Art is hard, but at the same time something we need to do or we get down on ourselves. Heh, it's weird how its the most fun thing in the world, but sometimes a giant world of frustration when something is not working the right way or we are faced with a giant wall of, "I'm going to tackle this, but I don't know how I'm going to do it!."

Thank you for your thoughtful comments and super hugs right back at ya! ;)
  • Blonde_Blythe Nov 19, 2011 @ 6:12 pm | delete
You are too kind; Your sweet comments are very uplifting and inspiring.

That is exactly the problem I have been having with my art. I get extremely frustrated when things don't look the way I think they should, or I can't get perspective right, to the point of becoming extremely anxious. Oh well, sometimes that's what makes a piece charming, so maybe I shouldn't get so down on myself--lol! I mean, look how popular Grandma Moses was in her day. :)

Sometimes my husband asks me why I paint when it drives me so crazy. I reply, "Because I love it, that's why!" Lol!

I hope you get out of your artist block/funk very soon, and I'm looking forward to seeing more work done in that very special style of yours. :)
  • Morgannafay Nov 19, 2011 @ 7:12 pm | delete
Wow My man folk says the same thing when I get frustrated. Especially when I start breaking pencils! LOL it um happened during the bob ross drawing. :>

I swear though that it is for when we do have fun, and the crazy high we get when things are going exactly our way.

But nah, you really shouldn't get down about it. Neither should I for that matter. For every mistake is made something is learned. I have some really dorky looking stuff that is far more dorky looking then what I pasted in my dork section here. LOL. And my doodles qualify for dork kingdom too.I need more nards to post those.

Thanks for coming on back Blonde! (((HUGS))))
  • Blonde_Blythe Nov 21, 2011 @ 9:03 am | delete
Sorry about replying here all the time, but for some reason, I can no longer comment on bio pages. I don't know if it's my browser or computer.

Lol! That's so funny about the Bob Ross Drawing. I have actually gotten so frustrated with a piece that I've gotten up and stomped my feet as hard as humanly possible. My husband, in another room watching TV, rushed in to see what happened. He thought I had fallen--Lol!

You're right about it all being worth the high--that's why I do it! Lol!

No one's dorky stuff is more dorky than mine. Heh! And I don't see a single dorky doodle among YOUR drawings!

You must be so proud to snag lens of the day--and so early in your Squidoo career, too! I'm still trying. Maybe one of these days before I get old and gray--Ha!

OK--I'll keep checking out your lenses.

P.S. It takes me forever to complete a lens too--that's one reason I had rather update an existing lens than start a new one.

    ((((HUGS))))
  • Morgannafay Nov 24, 2011 @ 1:33 am | delete
All of your comments are welcome here! Don't be silly

LOL! I can only imagine how hard you were stomping to sound like fall. hahaha. I've been there too!

I may have to do a dorky doodle lens. LOL I'm a bit freaked out just yet to put those up. I'm working on the courage to do a lot of things. I know there are going to be more then one person with a giant "WTF?" expression on their face one of these lenses or two.

Oh, oh on the lens of the day, I'm still in shock! Pride yes, shock too. haha both! I even tried to reply to every one, but I could not keep up with the flood of love that poured in that day. I tried to put everyone's bio into a file folder making that my lens browse folder since I've been juggling a lot of late and am time crunched. There were 700 visitors in that 24 hour span! :O Took me a couple of hours to folder all the bio pages. I'm ocd like that. lol. I figured what a groovy way to lens roam but with the people who have given me support first. I just wish I had more time to roam. I need a 40 hour day.

When I was a teen I would stay up 36 hours to get more stuff done, but I would sleep almost half as much afterwards so it didn't work :S

I'll be poking around your roster of lenses too! Thanks so much for the chatting. And I'm sorry it took me a bit to get back. Been trying to punch out the next lens and bake 900 cookies this week, that's what I've been doing all day and my feet are barking.

Super HUGS! you take care and have a awesome turkey day!

LOL! No, I never could walk in them. I would probably break an ankle. But, If I had known that I would have squidoo some years later it would have been nice to still have them. I tell you what, they were the most heavy shoes I've ever owned! You could use them as a weapon! LOL
