A Recipe for a Very Dear Mother
by anonymus author

Take a cup of thoughtfulness
And add a lot of love,
Blend with smiles as warming
As the sunshine from above,
Add a cheerful spirit
And, of course, a heart that sings
And also the ability
To laugh at little things,
Stir in lots of tenderness
And understanding, too
And there you have the recipe
For mothers dear as you.

The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference
Amazon Price: $10.52 (as of 11/12/2009)![]()
Most of us want to do the right thing for the environment, but making the commitment to change our fast-paced, convenience-oriented lifestyles can be more than a little daunting. What's the answer? Take that giant commitment and cut it up into 365 little commitments that get met one day at a time. The Green Year does just that. More than a calendar, it offers simple, practical, affordable, and engaging activities that make going green a blessing rather than a burden.
On the 22nd of April, 1970, Earth Day marks the beginning of the modern environmental movement. Among other things, 1970 in the United States brought with it the Kent State shootings, the advent of fiber optics, "Bridge over Troubled Water," Apollo 13, the Beatles' last album, the death of Jimi Hendrix, and the meltdown of fuel rods in the Savannah River nuclear plant near Aiken, SC. Americans of the era consumed leaded gas in massive V8s. Heavy industry released smoke and sludge. Air pollution was commonly accepted as the smell of prosperity. The 1970 Earth Day helped to change many peoples' minds.
