Scavenger Hunt Party
This is always so much fun! When my friends and I do this sort of party we usually have a list of items which requires us to drive around our city collecting and doing a bunch of ridiculous things. Just remember: NO DRINKING involved when you do this. For those of you who don't think a party is a party without a cocktail or two, then you can easily prepare a hunt involving things located around the party site...although I don't think it's as much fun. But, to each his own!Planning a scavenger hunt party can take a lot of time for the party planner. And, many people find the task too overwhelming to even think about hosting this type of party. But, if you know how to effectively and efficiently plan a scavenger hunt, it could be the best party your guests have ever attended. Slumber Party
Now this is always a good theme for tweens and young girls but it's also fun when you get older. It's a great way to bring back your youth with a few of your closest girlfriends. A great idea for bachelorette parties...or just a girls night in! My friends and I love doing this. For a successfull slumber party think back to when you were eleven or twelve and recall all the things you did at that age. Boy band sleeping bags, pizza, and games like truth-or-dare. At the end of the night, if or when everyone is ready to go to sleep, put in a great movie and get all snug in your sleeping bag. Just remember...the first one to fall asleep usually gets slumbered!!A great place to have a slumber party is at a hotel! Think, no major cleaning up the next day! Just be sure to keep the noise level down to a minimum so you don't disturb anyone staying in the rooms next to yours.

Casino Night Party
Can't afford to party in Vegas for a weekend? Well Bring Vegas to you and your friends by hosting a casino party. This is also a great theme for those who are not yet old enough to go to casinos. Young adults between the ages of 18-20 love this theme because it gives them a chance to gamble in a controlled environment. The basic idea behind a casino night party is everyone gets to gamble for fun, instead of real money. Everyone starts off with a certain amount of chips and are able to gamble that money at various casino stations. Roulette, black jack, poker, craps, and any other casino game you can think of. At the end of the night the people with the most chips can pick a prize. At all the casino themed parties I have attended there has been enough prizes for everyone. The person with the highest amount of chips gets to pick first and then the second highest goes next until everyone has gotten a prize. Usually there are a few really good prizes and then the rest are nick nacks people will enjoy. Another way to do this is just give the top three people prizes. Either way, everyone always has fun!Things to consider:

Mardi Gras Party
Well being from Louisiana, I don't really think this is all that creative. But this holiday is primarily celebrated in my home state and not much anywhere else! I actually didn't discover this fact until I went to college and met people from various parts of the country...I feel so sorry for yall!! This is a fabulous event we Louisianians celebrate every year and I think others should start joining in on the festivities. I don't think you have to have a mardi gras party during mardi gras. In fact, if it's mardi gras time, then you really should be in New Orleans!! But if life circumstances prevent you from travelling at that time then you should definitely host a mardi gras party!Things to consider:
- Food - I would suggest cajun food like boiled crawfish (Yum!), jambalaya, red beans and rice, etc.
- Drinks - Ever heard of a hurricane? Just don't drink to many!! A hurricane made right can really knock you on your feet!
- Decorations
- Music
- Beads
For those of you who missed mardi gras this year, don't fret! You can still celebrate the occassion as a theme for other events worth celebrating. Some other appropriate occasions:

Another great addition to this theme is have a mini-parade. Little kids love this! We used to do this at my elementary school every year. The kids would be in wagons decorated to the mardi gras theme and then go around throwing beads to the "parade goers," usually the kids parents. If you do this at a birthday party, then the birthday boy or girl gets to be the king or queen of the parade!

Masquerade Party
I love dressing up in ball gowns and going dancing with my friends. Since you can't really do this every night though, a great way is to have a masquerade party. It's usually a lot of fun and gives everyone an excuse to dress up! All the girls dress up in ball gowns and the men get to look extra handsome in their tuxes. I have found people like to stick with more modern attire when dressing up. The more exciting part of this party is to make everyone wear masks throughout the entire event. Not only does everyone look really cool, it also sets a different kind of mood for the party. You could continue this mood setting by having candles light the room.Little tip from my own personal experience with this theme: I've tried throughing a masquerade party that was more themed around 1700s attire...but it didn't work. Mainly, the women wanted to wear dresses that were more in style at the moment rather than big poofy dresses they would never wear again. So my advice is don't get to extravagant with this theme. Instead, keep it modern, yet elegant, and your guests will love it!

- Entertainment - personally, I love to dance! But you need great music to get people dancing.
