Where to Find -- or Make -- Custom Calendars

Make your own calendar with as little as one high quality piece of artwork. It can be a picture of your newborn, young toddler with his favorite toy, or child making his own sand castle at the beach. Or, it can be your own original piece of art, as long as it is digitized.

If you don't own a digital camera, ask your film developer to put a digital version of your photo on a CD. A picture in clear focus, with proper lighting, will likely be of sufficient quality for your calendar. If an image is too dark, it can be edited in the computer with Adobe Photoshop or another photo editing program.

Be sure to check on and follow sizing requirements of the company you choose to make your calendar. Many will require one photo for the cover and a photo for each month of the year.

One of the good things about giving a calendar as a gift is ... you know it needs to be replaced every year! You can make your calendar a personal gift-giving tradition. Make your calendar special by using photographs of your loved ones, photos of their favorite vacation spot, or whatever you know they will like. Your tradition will give them something to look forward to and you won't have to start guessing what they need.

Cheryl Rogers is a free-lance writer and photographer based in Tampa, Florida. She likes to design print-on-demand products with her photographs, including Scripture posters, mugs, invitations, cards, mousepads and -- of course -- calendars.

Cheryl used to do desktop design for print shops, using her skills to design flyers, programs, stationery, business cards, and more. A self published author, she now likes to design books as well.
