Crossing the Bridge to the World of Lemuria

Tired of being bullied, Jess and Leslie escape into the woods and discover the amazing kingdom of Terabithia. The Bridge to Terabithia is a Disney production which introduces subjects such as the power of imagination, the magic of friendship, dealing with bullies and coping with loss.

The Snake Charmer is playing a special tune. She is calling, asking for people to trust her and come in to the world of Lemuria. To reach this land you need to cross a bridge. When you reach the other side you will find a part of Lemuria that others have not found.

Finding the Bridge

You are given the opportunity to escape the 'real' world for a few hours. Thrilled to have left the everyday world you wander down a dirt path and find yourself deep within the Murmuring Woods. You feel very free, very happy to no longer hear the droning voices of some of your classmates, fellow workers, brothers, sisters and so on.

As you walk you enjoy the freedom. You can hear the creatures who live in this forest. Look and take in your surroundings.

Before long you hear the gurgling of a stream as it washes over the stones. You turn a corner and reach a bridge that crosses this stream. You stand, looking at this very old structure, taking in all the details. You take special notice of how it has been made and what it has been made with. It is not like any bridge you have seen before.

As you step on to the bridge, keen to walk over to the other side a gaurdian of the bridge steps forward and tells you that to pass by you will need a very special code or be in possession of magical spectacles.

The Bridge

Create a bridge. You can draw it, make it out of coloured paper, find it in a magazine. Make a special feature in your workbook showing just what this bridge looks like and where it is.
