My Bumbling Stumbling Journey

I was an entrepreneur until recently. My last business was going great until a little over 3 years ago and my revenue streams dried up seemingly overnight. I don't quite understand how it happened so quickly, but it did. I had no debt, happy employees, and an overall good standard of living. I wasn't rich, but I wasn't hurting and I was having a lot of fun.

I had a 5 month rainy day fund to help me through a little rough patch, but after that was gone I went in search of capital from the bank. The funny thing about capital is when things were going great and I didn't need any capital banks were literally throwing money at me, but when I finally needed some capital I couldn't find a bank in a tri-state area willing to lend me any money.

Then I did a really stupid thing I started financing the business through my own credit cards and a refinance of my house. Looking back this was a really bad idea, but at the time I thought the business would make it through and the company would repay me the loan. After the business failed and I had to fire my employees I didn't have any money to pay for the debts I racked up. I sold my house to cover my mortgages, but I didn't have nearly enough cash to pay the credit cards and personal credit lines back so I was forced to file bankruptcy. As you can tell things were going south in a hurry.

The Credit Repair Come Back

And My Credit the Gift That Keeps on Giving

Things were definitely looking a little bleak, but I found several odd jobs (including handyman, errand runner, driver, and waiting tables). I moved in with some friends (Actually two of my old employees) and these odd jobs covered my rent and the bills which was a relief. Next I started working on a new internet business and it started to work. After a bunch of work I was coming back. As long as I kept working hard I was going to make it.

Next, the lease ran out on my friends place and I started looking for an apartment. The problem was even though I was working and earning income the bankruptcy on my record was making it impossible for me to get approved to rent an apartment. I actually had to break down and move in with my parents which was brutal. I needed to get my credit fixed fast, because I love my parents, but living with them was not going to work.

One of my friends had some credit problems in the past and I asked him about his credit repair experience. He said he tried to fix it himself, but had no luck so he started looking at credit repair services. After some research he found that most credit repair companies use automated services that only send canned letters. After one month of research he found Credit Mechanics. All of the analysis and credit repair plans are personalized based on your individual needs.

Repair My Credit Report !

I need out of my parents house now

Living at home has become more than a little stressful by now and after the referral I went to the Credit Mechanics website just to get a better idea of the process. After a short look at the site it is clear these guys know what they are talking about so I give them a call and what a relief it is to talk to someone who understands my situation and can help me.

I quickly go back to the site and sign up. As soon as I finish I get a "welcome email" telling me what I needed to do to get my credit reports and get them over to Credit Mechanics. The message also explained that a representative would be in touch with me within the next couple of days for a consultation.

Two business days later I get a call from the company explaining the credit repair process, the Credit Mechanics Program, and the steps I need to take to move forward. I had my list of questions ready to pounce, but after listening to the company representative all of my pressing questions were answered.

I obtained my credit reports and all of my FICO credit scores were lower than 530 so I knew we had a lot of work to do. Every activity that was performed on my behalf by Credit Mechanics was reported to me via email including copies of all correspondence sent and helpful reminders. I began taking steps to build positive credit by taking out secured credit cards and ensuring all of my bill payments were on time. Credit Mechanics removed over 30 different items from my credit reports and within 90 days each of my credit scores had increased over 100 points. Then came the great news in Month 5 the bankruptcy was removed from 2 of my 3 credit reports. In month 7 the bankruptcy was removed from the last credit report and my credit scores ranged from 757 - 780.

During the time I was living at home I saved all of my money and with my credit scores so I high I wasn't looking to lease anymore I easily qualified for a mortgage and my monthly mortgage payments were cheaper .

Credit & Life Lessons Learned

Credit Mechanics Credit Repair Review

I learned a few things from this experience. First, small businesses are a funny thing and you should never finance them through personal credit. Being an entrepreneur was a fun thing when things were going good, but the economy can really change your tune in a hurry. I learned that you need to know when it is time to cut your losses and move in a different business direction. This lesson was hard for me since I always thought that if I held on long enough and worked hard enough I would get through tough business times.

On the positive side I learned that I'm a survivor and I won't let circumstances destroy my will to succeed. I also learned that credit repair is possible and bad things don't have to stay on your credit for 7-10 years. If your credit needs a pick me up I highly suggest talking to Credit Mechanics.
