Credit Debt Relief Repair Secrets

When it comes to debt relief, there are a few well kept credit debt relief repair secrets that you may not know about. Actually, the term "debt repair" is a synonym for "credit repair". Credit counselors are attorneys with a specialty in credit issues.

These attorneys don't want you to know these secrets, but the truth is that these little secrets can be mastered by anybody.

The first one is that the ONLY negative items that can remain on your credit report are the ones that the credit bureau can PROVE are accurate.

That's right; if the credit reporting bureau cannot prove that an item, especially a negative one, is accurate, it must be removed by law. The credit repair attorney knows this and has ways to get those removed.

This leads to the second secret they do NOT want you to know, which is that the burden of proof lies on the credit reporting bureau, not the creditor.

It is the responsibility of the credit reporting bureau to prove what they are reporting as accurate. These entities will try to place the burden of proof to you as the debtor, but that is not what the LAW says.

Just like a man is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, you are not a bad credit risk until you are PROVEN to be a bad one.

So how do the credit/debt repair attorneys get these items off of your report?

The power of the attorney is in the letters that they write to the bureaus. These letters sway the law into your favor. An attorney has experience in writing this type of correspondence and forcing the bureaus to remove unproven items.

It is also a little known fact that the report that YOU get from the reporting agencies is vastly different from the one given to businesses and banks. The report supplied to banks, auto lenders and businesses is much more detailed than the one you are privy to.

Not quite fair, is it? If you doubt this, the next time you get denied for a credit card or loan, ask to see the credit report and they will tell you that you have to request your own copy from Experian, Equifax or TransUnion.

All of these credit debt relief repair secrets can be learned by anyone and used to your own advantage. Now that you know it is only a matter of proving the item on your report, shifting the burden of that proof back to the reporting bureau and that all it takes is a well written letter, you can achieve this end yourself.

These secrets are what keep the credit debt relief repair attorneys in business. They charge a pretty good penny to act on your behalf and do what you could do yourself in a nutshell.

First, acquire a copy of your report from one or all three bureaus named above. You are allowed to request, I believe, one free report per year. After that, the cost is around $10 each, which is minimal and you'll have it in writing in less than a week.

Review it and make sure the negative items are not accurate and start writing letters.

What is Credit Card Debt Settlement?

I would not be exaggerating when I say most Americans depend on credit cards. These we use in buying our food and clothes, paying for our restaurant bills and our children's tuition, booking our flights and hotels - the list goes on and on. This statistics - the average American family owes more than $10,000 in credit card debts - just goes to show how much we depend on these.

It's almost as if, in this modern world, we're living on credit cards. It's probably one of our most prized possessions.

How is it that we've come to rely on this plastic money so much? Convenience and luxury have something to do with it. The terms of payment banks have crafted likewise has a hand in its popularity.

Instead of asking for full payments, banks charge us with minimum payments each month making it easier for us to manage our finances. However, opting for this scheme has its setbacks. For one, paying the minimum required amount deducts a pittance on our outstanding balance, which means we would have to pay for this our account for a long, long time.

It also makes some card holders complacent in meeting their obligations. Most pay only this required amount, even if you purchase hundreds of dollars worth or products each month. As you practice this each month, your balance would balloon and so would their minimum payments.

In extreme cases, you have to take another loan just to manage your finances effectively. You can also choose to get a credit card debt settlement, an agreement where the card holders and your banks meet halfway in a compromise payment.

With this, you need to go to your banks and tell them upfront that you cannot anymore afford to pay for your debts. Banks would have to settle for the amount, lesser than you balance, because they don't want you away from your obligations. These banks hate to take you to court either.

Your bankers will decide on the amount and interest rates you're going to pay. All you have to do is keep your end of the bargain.

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for the info. It's really great to know that anyone can do this instead of using the attorney service. (if someone has a bad credit, that person may not have $$$ to pay for attorney fee).

Perhaps, you could point out some sample of the letter and how we should write to get the maximum effect.

May be a couple sample letters would help a lot of people.
