Basic Bearded Dragon Care
What You Need to know about Bearded Dragon Care

The four basics are water, food, UVB light and heat. They don't need a lot of water because they come from the desert. A good misting once a day should be enough but you can add a water bowl just to be sure. We also give them a bath once a week in a tub of warm water. This helps with hydration and shedding. What to feed your lizard will depend on the age.
Hatch-lings require more protein. You should provide about 90% protein such as insects to 10% vegetable and fruits. Feed them insects such as gut loaded crickets or cockroaches 2 to 3 times a day for the first few months. Only feed them enough so that they can eat them all in a few minutes. Keep the size of the insects small, about the size as the space between the dragons eyes. Too big can kill your baby dragon. As it gets bigger so should the size of the bugs. Also the ratio of vegetable to meat will gradually flip as the dragon becomes an adult. So you'll only have to feed the insects a few times a week when your dragon is an adult.
UVB lighting is very important because they use it to make vitamin D3. Which is essential for your dragons ability to metabolize calcium. Without vitamin D3 and a calcium supplement your pet could develop metabolic bone disease. It is more of a problem for growing dragons because they need more for their growing bones. Uv light can be purchased at pet stores and have different ratings for different lizards. Dragons being from the desert need a higher rating. At least 7% UVB. Be ware of the coil type bulb as they can cause blindness.
The final basic need is heat. A simple heat lamp placed on one side the cage lid should be enough. Check the temps directly under the light on the basking surface and the ambient temperature. There should be a cool side and a warm side so your dragon can thermoregulate it's body temperature. Check this lens out for more information on your bearded dragon's cage set up.
