Crestwood KY the 52nd Best Place to live in the US

Crestwood, KY is just outside of Louisville's Northeast End. There are a few way to get to it. You can head north from Louisville on I-71 toward Cincinnati and take exit 14. You can also come in on Hwy 146 through Pewee Valley or Hwy 22 (Brownsboro Rd) off of the Gene Snyder (I-265). All roads lead to Crestwood. Well, at least these roads.

Crestwood is in Oldham County and benefits like Buckner, Prospect, Goshen and LaGrange and Pewee Valley from the Award Winning school system.

Crestwood has also recently been voted the 52nd best place to live in the US, by a CNN poll, not too shabby.

Here you are going to find information on schools, neighborhoods, real estate homes for sale, places to eat and things that will help with your move to Crestwood, KY.

Also, if there is information you need, you can drop it in the box at the bottom of the page or Send Me an Email or visit the Oldham County Relocation Guide

New Construction at near Foreclosure Pricing

I found a build that will do it

I have been working with several people looking for foreclosure and short sale deals in the $500,000 price range. There are several options out there, but when people are looking to spend that kind of money for an executive home, the homes we find are missing something they would want in a new home. It could be size, finishes, layout you name it, there seems to be an element that is missing from their dream home.

I have found a builder that understands today's real estate market and is competing with foreclosures and short sales with new construction without sacrificing quality.

If you want to learn more about the upscale east end neighborhoods he is building in, Email Me and I will get you the information you need.

Oldham County Schools Make Up Missed Days

Here is the Shedule to Make up Days Missed Due to IKE and the Ice Storm

The Board of Education has voted on the four remaining make-up days:

February 16, 2009, which was originally intended to be a staff development day,

May 19, 2009, which was reserved for a Kentucky election,

Then since the ice storm, they have moved the last day to June 5th 2009. Here is the revised calendar, Oldham County Revised Calendar 2008-2009

Crestwood KY Schools

South Oldham Campus

Crestwood has experienced steady growth over the past several years. With such a strong reputation that Oldham County Schools have and Crestwood's proximity to Louisville, it makes Crestwood, KY a destination for those moving in to the Louisville area or those living in Louisville wanting to get out of the city. There are several private schools in Jefferson County and many have great reputations. Along with the great reps, they also have pretty hefty tuition bills as well. I hear every year of parents looking to move to Oldham County for the school system as an alternative to paying for private schools in Louisville.

Crestwood has 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and a high school. Camden Station Elementary, South Oldham Middle School and South Oldham High School are all on the same campus. Crestwood Elementary is on the other side of the railroad tracks and is the oldest school in Crestwood. However, the are in the process of building a new Crestwood Elementary at the same site and tearing down the old building. Kenwood Elementary is one of the newest schools in Crestwood and is pretty much on the same campus as the others, but it has a separate entrance.

The next 3 are in Crestwood but closer to Lagrange and Buckner than Louisville. Locust Grove Elementary will be brand new school this fall. East Oldham Middle School is on the same campus as Locust Grove. Just down the road is Centerfield Elementary

What is there to do in Crestwood?

Well, from Crestwood you are a short trip back in to Louisville to take advantage of all the big city has to offer. East End shopping, a Bats Baseball game or 4th street live downtown are a 15-20 minute drive away.

For kids, there are several baseball, soccer and football leagues to join in Oldham County. In fact, the Kentucky Thoroughbreds Soccer Club is one of the top soccer outfits in the State and is based in Oldham County. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is near the Louisville airport and fairgrounds. Only about a 25 minute drive from Crestwood. Our kids get a season pass and for less than what it would cost to go to Six Flags 2 times, you get your moneys worth. If you get your passes early, thy are about $40 for the year and end up about $60 for the year later in the season. I think a one day pass is about $30 or more, so if you go more than twice, you usually come out ahead. My son usually goes with his cousins late Friday afternoons in the summer and shut the place down.

But to see what is available in Oldham County, go to Buckner, Ky to see what you can get in to, like the Oldham County Aquatic Center, the Oldham County YMCA and the Oldham County Country Club.

Hot Yoga Anyone?

You can find it in Crestwood

Hot Spot Yoga is a Bikram Yoga Studio that has a 90 minute yoga class with 26 poses in a room that is heated to about 100 degrees. It is a great work out with many benefits. It helps with stretching, cardiovascular improvement, strength, balance, and with the heat it cleanses your systems as well. The hardest workout I have ever done, but the most rewarding.

Kristin offers an introduction of 30 days for $30 so you can give it a shot. The best $30 you will spend this year. Check it out, Hot Spot Yoga

Even if you can't touch your toes, it is worth a try.

Need a Place to Stay on Your Visit to Crestwood

With 4 kids, we ran out of room at our house but check out these

If you are looking at houses in Oldham County and still want to go see the Louisville Slugger Museum,Churchill Downs or Six Flags you might want to consider looking for a hotel on the East/Northeast End of Louisville. It will be a good middle ground to start from.
