The Cost of Cribbage Board Collecting

Answer: That's entirely up to the collector. Although you can find cribbage boards that sell for well into the thousands of dollars, there are many boards to be found at very reasonable prices. What If The Cribbage Board Is Damaged?

Question:What If The Cribbage Board Is Damaged?

Answer: If the cribbage board is damaged or missing pegs it is still your decision what you collect. Many boards have minor damage such as dings, cracks, or pegs broken off in a hole. More serious damage could be a broken hinge on a folding board, a piece of trim missing from a more ornate board, or a drawer for cards or pegs is broken or missing.

Simple damage through wear and tear like dings and dents and and worn paint can actually add character to an otherwise benign looking board. Broken pegs can usually be drawn out with a tiny drill bit on an electric drill or Dremmel type tool and "New Cribbage Board Pegs" can also be found easily on line.

More extensive damage such as a broken or cracked board may be able to be repaired and you will need to decide whether you have the skills or ambition to deal with it before you make your purchase. Look your items over carefully before buying, especially at auctions. That said it can be very satisfying to purchase a damaged item on the low and bring it back to life by making these repairs yourself.
