world cup 2011
England have been drawn in the same group as the host nation India at the 2011 World Cup. Andrew Strauss's side will begin their campaign against Holland in Nagpur on 22 February, before facing the hosts and tournament favourites, Ireland, South Africa and Bangladesh before closing the group stages against West Indies.
India will open the tournament against their co-hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka on 19 February, while the final has been scheduled for 2 April in Mumbai. The other group contains the holders Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya.
"The sub
continent has hosted high-quality events in the past, including two ICC Cricket World Cups in 1987 and 1996, and we are committed to stage another world-class event in 2011, one which will be memorable and enjoyable for all," said the tournament director, Ratnakar Shetty. "However, the announcement of the match schedule will mean that the venues hosting the matches will have to meet their timelines to ensure everything is ready for what we believe will be a superb spectacle and a great advertisement for the sport which has a huge following in the subcontinent.

ENGLAND AVOID MUMBAI
Cricket 2011
England will avoid being handed an emotional return to Mumbai, scene of the terrorist outrage a year ago that caused them temporarily to abandon a tour of India, when the World Cup draw is announced in the same Indian city on Monday. It is likely that England would have to reach the World Cup final, scheduled for Wankhede Stadium, to play in Mumbai. They will play their first game in Bangladesh soon after the opening ceremony, which is also in Dhaka on 18 February.
The full match schedule will be announced by the ICC at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai. India will host 29 matches, Sri Lanka 12 and Bangladesh eight. The semi-finals will be in Mohali and Colombo.
England left their one-day tour of India early last November after coordinated attacks across Mumbai, which the Pakistan government later admitted originated in that country, left more than 100 dead and 300 injured.
England called a halt to their one-day tour in Bhubaneshwar, five games into their seven-game ODI series, much to the relief of players who were badly shaken after watching live TV footage of the main attack on the Taj Palace Hotel, where they had been staying a few weeks earlier.
They later returned amid unprecedented security levels for an England cricket match to fulfil the Test series, although the Test scheduled for Mumbai was moved.
Groupings for the 2011 World Cup, announced earlier, are as follows:
Group A Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada, Kenya
Group B India, South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands
