When a chat room is quiet, and you're all alone, you feel like you can hear the crickets chirping.

That's one of the running jokes we have going over at the Captain Squid Squidoo Chat Room - if you show up and no one is talking, you make a post about the crickets.  So, on a dare, I'm making a lens about famous crickets in American Pop Culture.  This one is for you, Gypsy.

So here are the famous crickets that come to mind:

  1. Jiminy Cricket - made famous by Disney for the "When you Wish Upon a Star" song from "Pinocchio"
  2. Cri-kee - the cricket from Disney's "Mulan" series, carried in a small cage for good luck
  3. The Crickets was the band behind American musician Buddy Holly
  4. Chester - the cricket from the "The Cricket in Times Square" series of books
