Knives & Bodies & Evidence, Oh My!!

Isn't it amazing how many crime shows are on t.v.? Don't know if it's the thrill of the chase or the thrill of watching good-looking cops solve gruesome crimes in about 45 minutes. Gotta love the efficiency. I think my attraction stems from being the daughter of a policeman and my early years of viewing: Dragnet, Adam 12, Mission Impossible.

I can't help but admire writers of true crime stories. But for me, each story has to end well. The criminal needs to be caught and punished (severely) to keep me watching the shows or reading the books. I need closure.

I also need humor to balance out this attraction to crime. That's why I have "The Ex" in my kitchen. Isn't it the best knife holder you've ever seen!!!!

Ann Rule, my favorite true crime author

type=textThis former Seattle policewoman is by far the leader in writing true crime stories in America.

Her grandmother prepared meals for prisoners in jail and that was Ann's introduction to seemingly normal people who had committed horrific crimes. She became curious about why these people acted as they did and her books are deep in research about the life of the criminal as well as the science used by the police who catch them.

I was glad to find very normal pictures of Ann on her website. She's a big animal lover and I've got to think that balances out the many hours she spends writing about psychopaths.

This is her official website: http://www.annrules.com/index.html

My Favorite Ann Rule True Crime Books

(Don't worry. It's not all I read.)

These were just a few of the books on my shelves when my husband and I were dating. Don't think he noticed until it was too late, so to speak.

I love to read about true crime and watch crime shows on t.v., as long as both have closure. The criminal has got to suffer too. I also love comedy.... more »
