Crime Fiction

Introduction

I review crime fiction and general fiction at Nearly nothing but novels: fiction and crime fiction book reviews, Gather.com (which also features my environmental articles and photos) and Blogcritics magazine (also a mix of book reviews and environmental articles). I also comment and blog at Crimespace.com, where I correspond with authors and readers.

I will share with you my favorite books, authors, resources and links, covering modern and classical crime fiction.

I look forward to your input on your own favorites!

Also recommended on my crime fiction group, "What's a Little Murder Amongst Friends?", I highly recommend Barbara's Blog Carnival, Carnival of the Criminal Minds, which is a great way to find the best crime fiction blogs and writing on the web and in bookstores.

Scandanavian Crime Fiction

What do you think?

I've been reading about the adventures of Kurt Wallander in Sweden for some time now, courtesy of author Henning Mankell (and often my brother). I find these, by and large, to be outstanding. He seems to be picking up a significant fan base in the US now. What are your thoughts?

How many are reading Karin Fossum of Norway? I've still only read "Don't Look Back", but that was truly excellent and quite chilling.

Any others you wish to add to the list?

Amazon Spotlight

Death of a Red Heroine (Soho Crime)

Amazon Price: $5.60 (as of 02/14/2012)Buy Now

This is an astonishing novel that manages to provide a suspenseful mystery story, the first real insight I had into the details of the Cultural Revolution in China, extensive background on life in a totalitarian state, and some poetry for good measure. A remarkably balanced book, possibly the best crime novel of the decade.

Anything written by James Ellroy. He's truly a master of crime fiction

Good point, though I have to confess to being a bigger fan of early Ellroy than of his more recent epics (not that I object to their length). Thanks for the visit!
