Criss Angel Revealed

I'm going to teach you some Criss Angel Secrets that are practical for you. What this means is that instead of teaching you how to say...levitate over the Luxor hotel, I'm going to teach you tricks that you can learn right now. Read on, and you can be amazing people with these tricks in less than an hour.

Balducci levitation. Nearly everyone into magic knows this trick, but if you don't heres an image explaining how its done. If you do know how its done, and want to get down to the real good stuff, feel free to skip ahead.

All you do is balance on one foot. It's literally that simple. The key is to work the angles. You want to be facing about 45 degrees in the opposite direction of your audience.

Now, since everyone knows this trick, its a bit harder to do. The key to performing it besides working the angles, is to really sell the illusion. I have a video below of David Blaine, showing a perfect example of really selling the trick to his spectators.

First off, you have to learn to work the angles. Practice in front of a mirror until you learn exactly where you want your spectators to be. When performing it, just tell them to crowd together closely in a single spot to catch you in case you fall, and then do the levitation at a good angle for them. David Blaine is a master of this.
Secondly, learn to sell the trick. Criss Angel sells his tricks better than anyone, but for this particular trick I think David Blaine shows a better demonstration of selling the trick. I was very selective in the tricks I picked out for you guys. I wanted to find good tricks that you could do impromptu, with little to no setup and no gimmicks. This next one is a pretty nifty little trick on how to make a toothpick disappear and reappear, right into thin air. It's the only one of Criss Angel Secrets that he actually reveals himself. I like this trick a lot because you can do it nearly anytime, and its quick and simple but will still get great reactions.

When performing this trick, its all about the angles and the misdirection.
The angles are the first thing to watch for. You want your audience to be right in front of you the whole time. If you have any wandering eyes on the side of you, they will easily see the trick and the magic will be ruined. Also, make sure to practice in a mirror to make sure it looks believable and the toothpick is well hidden.
As for the misdirection, practice snapping your fingers at the exact same time that you put your thumb up. This allows your audience to lose focus for a split second giving you time to hide the toothpick properly.
As for being prepared for the trick, you have two options. Either A, go around with a piece of tape stuck on your thumb until you are ready to perform. Or, B, just carry some tape in your pocket and go to the bathroom to set it up before performing. If you've ever watched Criss Angel Mindfreak, you know that some of the stuff he does can often not only amaze spectators, but also get them scared for his well being. This next trick is a perfect example. The idea is simple, you simple take a piece of string, usually I use dental floss, but in the video Criss Angel uses guitar string. You then make it cut through your neck into your throat, then pull it back out. It's a very gruesome visual effect, and best of all it can be pulled of with no experience.

The key to performing this is to always be prepared. If you have any idea that you might be asked to do some magic, go ahead and put a stick of glue and some dental floss in your back pocket. If at anytime later you decide you want to perform, simply go to the bathroom first, and apply the glue, and your all set. Now I realize this can be rather annoying to carry, so you may want to keep it in your car and then just put it on before you get out of your car to meet your friends. Then, just go up to them and be like "Hey guys, check this out." Then you can do it immediately, and all you had to carry all night was a single piece of string that will soon be thrown away. When I first saw this trick, I was blown away. It was a very simple idea, yet the end result was seemingly impossible. Take a signed quarter from a spectator, and put it inside a sealed soda can borrowed from a spectator. What I like most about the trick was its practical applications. This is a trick that requires absolutely no setup, no gimmicks, and can be performed ANY TIME. This is my last secret in Criss Angel Secrets, but believe me I've saved the best for last.

Now that you know how the trick is done, its very important that you read the following tips to make sure you do it right.
First off, make sure that when you put the quarter on the bottom of the can, you keep the end pointed towards you, and angled slightly up. This makes sure the coin stays as well as prevents the audience from seeing the coin.
Also, when Criss performs the trick, notice how he steps back when he does the majority of it, and then steps forward once all the dirty work is done. This is a big part of Criss Angel Secrets. You don't want to be too close when doing this or your hand movements will give it away.
Lastly, practice practice practice. Practice this in front of a mirror until the trick looks 100% believable.
If you can remember these three tips, the trick will be yours in no time.
