Seed Stitch Crochet Dish Cloth Pattern


One of the simplest things to crochet is a dishcloth. These are great for housewarming gifts, wedding gifts, college dorm gifts and as part of a gift basket.

Green Kitchen Cotton Yarn

Bernat Yarn

You will need 1 Skein of Kitchen Cotton Yarn. I used Forest Green but you can choose any color you wish.

BERNAT-Natural soft absorbent cotton. Ideal for kitchen accessories baby bibs and home decor. Pattern is on each label. 100% cotton. Solids: 1-3/4 ounces (50 grams) 80 yards. Ombres and Twists: 1-1/2 ounces (42.5 grams) 68 yards. Gauge: 4=20 stitches on size 7 needles/crochet hook 7. Dyelotted. Machine wash and dry.

For this pattern I altered it with the following:
1single crochet stitch and 1Half double crochet stitch,this makes a denser fabric for a lovely Dish cloth. Also, I do not work the two stitches in the same stitch -- 1sc in first stitch, 1hdc in next --

The Pattern: Seed Stitch Dish Cloth Pattern

Let's Get Started

Dish Cloth


Supplies:
1 Skein Cotton Yarn Green
1 I crochet hook
Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Ch 26
1: sc in second stitch from hook, hdc in next stitch, (repeat pattern across [sc,hdc])* ch2 turn
2: hdc in first stitch, sc in next stitch (repeat pattern stitch across) ch1 turn
3: sc in first stitch, hdc in next stitch (repeat pattern stitch across) ch2 turn
Repeat rows 2 and three for a Total of 23 Rows.

-If you end with a sc, ch2 hdc
-If you end with a hdc, ch1 sc

End off. Weave in loose ends.

**Note** In the above Video Tutorial Teresa is using a Double Crochet and a Single Crochet for her Seed Stitch- I use a Half Double Crochet and Single Crochet in this pattern to make the fabric tighter.**
