is for a crochet basket which is only 3" wide - a nice shelf
decoration for a small floral arrangement. The smaller
version of this crochet pattern is nice to hang on an

Online pattern for crochet mini basket
This is a larger version of Arlene's Easter Tree Basket at BRUSHES AND PALETTESCROCHET MINI BASKET
Size - approx. 3 inches wide
Sugar'n Cream cotton crochet thread - G hook
Base of basket:
Ch 8. Join with slst to 1st chain made to form ring.
Row 1 - Ch 3. Make 11 dc in ring. Join with slst to the top of first ch 3. (There are 12 spaces in row 1)
Row 2 - Sl st to 1st space. Ch 5, dc in same space *Dc, ch 2, dc* in each of 11 remaining spaces.
Join with sl st to 3rd ch of first ch 5.
Side of basket:
Row 3 - Sl st to 1st ch 2 sp. Ch 4. Dc in same sp. *Dc, ch 1, dc.* in each of 11 remaining ch 2 sp.
Join with sl st to 3rd ch of first ch 4.
Row 4 - Sl st to 1st ch 1 sp. Ch 3, dc, ch 2, dc 2 in same sp. Ch 2. *Skip a ch 1 sp, dc 2, ch 2, dc 2, ch 2*
in the next ch 1 space 5 times. Join with sl st to top of 1st ch 3. There are a total of 6 "shells" in Row 4).
Row 5 - Sl st to 1st space. Ch 3, dc, ch 2, dc 2 in same space. Ch 2. *Dc 2, ch 2, dc 2, ch 2*
in the top ch 2 of the next 5 "shells". Join with sl st to top of 1st ch 3.
Handle:
Cut 6 18" lengths of thread. Place together, and tie an overhand knot 2 inches from the end. Braid.
Tie an overhand knot so that the handle is 6 inches from knot to knot. Trim ends to 1 inch.
Finishing:
Stiffen the basket and handle according to the directions on the bottle of stiffener.
When dry, tie the handle to the sides of the basket with additional crochet thread.
