How to Crochet Pumpkins - an Online Crochet Pattern

Crochet Pattern - Pumpkin 


5" CROCHET PUMPKIN

Worsted weight yarn - orange - G hook for pumpkin
Worsted weight yarn - small amount of green - E hook for stem
Yarn needle - Polyfill stuffing
Stitch abbrev.: sc-single crochet: st-stitch: sk-skip a stitch: ch-chain: slst-slip stitch: dc-double crochet
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING ONE SECTION - MAKE FIVE SECTIONS
Chain 2 - Row 1 - sc four times in the second ch from the hook. Ch 1 and turn (4 stitches)
Row 2 - sc in 1st st, sc twice in the 2nd st, sc across the row. Ch 1 and turn. - Repeat Row 2 eight more times
Row 3 - ( 6 stitches)
Row 4 - ( 7 stitches) - each row will have one more stitch, Row 10 having 13 sts.
Rows 11 through 15 - sc across the row. Ch 1 and turn (13 stitches)
Row 16 - sc in 1st st, sk 2nd st, sc across the row. Ch 1 and turn. - Repeat Row 16 eight more times.
Row 17 - (11 stitches)
Row 18 - (10 stitches) - each row will have one less st, Row 24 having 4 sts.
Row 25 - sk first st, sc, sk next st, sc - 2 stitches remaining - tie off

Lay one section on top of another, edges even, matching stitches. With a yarn needle, sew a running seam
1/2 inch from edge. Before closing the last seam, turn the pumpkin inside-out and stuff with polyfill stuffing.
NOTE - All of the seams will be turned to the INSIDE.
The indented ridges of the pumpkin will show on the outside. Close seam.

STEM - Start with a slip knot.
Row 1 - Insert the hook in a stitch near the top closing of the pumpkin. Stitch one sc
Continue around the opening with a total of five single crochet stitches forming a circle
about 5/8" in diameter. Slst to first st.
Row 2 - Chain 3 (the first dc) and dc in each st around. Slst to top of first dc. Tie off.
