The Shell Stitch in Crochet
The Shell Stitch is also called a Fan Stitch, made from a series of double or treble crochets made in one chain stitch and joined at the top. Each shell stitch is separated at the bottom by chain stitches.This stitch is used as a filling stitch or as a decorative border, most commonly found in afghans and sweaters. The size of the shell depends on the size of stitch used.
