Effortlessy Make Roast Beef!

Roast beef seems like such a complicated dish to make, but if you use the crock pot, it's fairly simple.  To make a great roast with only a little bit of effort, all you have to do is throw the ingredients into the crock pot, add the roast, add water, and wait.  When it's time to eat, the roast is done.

A lot of people like to add carrots and potatoes to their roast recipes, but my family never likes to eat the potatoes and carrots, so I went for a recipe that didn't have all of those extras.  The roast will be really tender when done.  You can either serve the roast beef as is with a couple of nice side dishes, or you can serve the roast beef inside some nice french rolls, dipping the sandwich into the a jus.

I like things simple, and the only thing difficult about this recipe is planning ahead of time!

What You'll Need

1/2 cup soy sauce
1 beef bullion cube
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 roast

The Ingredients in the Crock Pot

How to Make It

Throw everything in the pot. Put several cups of water in the pot. I put enough water in so that the roast is about 3/4 covered. Every once in a while, I will turn the roast over and spoon liquid over it. You can put the roast on low for 7 to 8 hours. If the roast is not thawed when you put it in, you will want to cook it on high for several hours before finishing on low (or thaw it in the microwave ahead of time).

What I like best about this product is that you can set the timer with half-hour intervals, from 30 minutes to 20 hours. Sometimes the time you have to cook doesn't fit neatly into 4, 6, 8, or 10 hour segments. This crock pot allows you to cook for exactly the amount of time that you need it, and switches to warm when the time is up. It holds up to six quarts, which works great for recipes like this roast, barbecue pork chops, or any other large amounts of food.
