Crock Pot Cooking Recipes and More

After a very hectic day of errands, taking the kids to doctor appointments and grocery shopping, I was finally on my way home. I am exhausted.

So whats for dinner my kids were asking. Couldn't we just stop and get burgers tonight mom?

Now, I am a mom on a budget and stopping out for burgers was something we don't do very often, and tonight is no exception. Not only is fast food costly, but it seems to me like when we eat fast food we are hungry again two hours later.

I told them no, not tonight kids, I will fix you guys a real home cooked healthy meal, just like I always do, even if it I am totally exhausted.

As we walk up on the porch and open the door, the most delicious smell hits us in the face. We all stopped in our tracks and looked at each other.

Oh my gosh, my husband is not home, he doesn't and can't cook anyway, no one else has keys to my house, what is that smell?

We all ran into the kitchen and noticed my large Crock Pot on the counter, one of my kids says Mom the smell is coming from there, I said yes the smell is coming from the crock pot.

On the lid is a post it note that reads: Honey, I knew you would be gone all day, so as a surprise to you I filled the crock pot, I hope I did it right!

Filled the Crock Pot? My Husband? Now where did this come from, right out of the blue?
My husband don't cook, ok, he does if you call peanut and butter sandwiches cooking!!!

I called him on his cell phone. He too was on his way home and said he was wondering when I would call, and asked if I saw the surprise in the crock pot?

I said yes, we could smell it from outside. Of course I thanked him, and asked him what ever gave him the idea to fill the crock pot and how did you know how to do it?

It was easy he said, I know when we are going to be gone all day for the kids ball tournaments or something that takes much of the day, you always fill the crock pot with ingredients and when we come home dinner is waiting for us.

So I just got out your recipe cards for the crock pot, looked through them until I found one that I could find all the ingredients for in the fridge and pantry, and followed the recipe.

It was easy really I just put it all in the crock pot and turned it on. I said to him "well it is perfect! ". I had dinner out on the table in a matter of minutes and when he pulled in the driveway it was there. A great health meal for everyone.

What a great ending to a hectic day, dinner was delicious, as it usually is from my crock pot!

Did I mention the cleanup?

It is as easy as putting the insert into the dishwasher. The best part of all, I found out my husband can cook!!!

Well crock pot cooking anyway, but that is OK with me.

We just had a healthy delicious meal for the entire family in less then 8 dollars total. And we have leftover pulled pork for lunch tomorrow.
