Croissant vs Biscuits

HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Croissant vs Biscuits

Which do you think tastes better? Many would argue that you can do more things with a biscuit than a croissant, which is probably true. In Cooks.com there are over 2000 recipes for biscuits and sadly only 98 for croissants. But when you think about the history of the two breads you must agree, only one could ever get you close to France. Not to mention which one sounds better and rolls right off the tongue.

If you asked me, I'd have to say the croissant is the best bread. I love the aroma of a croissant freshly done and the way it flakes as you pick it up. The softness in the center, especially with a drizzling of melted honey butter. Have you ever tried it like this? This is one of those special treats I like with my coffee or morning tea, which is normally accompanied with a spread of apple butter. Which do you like better biscuits or croissants?

Charles Dickens once wrote about the Croissant in "All the Year Round." Do you remember what he said?

I have no idea what a biscuit is in America. In Europe/UK a biscuit is a cookie and we wouldn't dream of eating them with gravy!

IntuitiveHealer says:

Well, I love them both! For sandwiches, I think I prefer croissants, but for breakfasts, or with a yummy dinner, give me biscuits. So if I have to choose, I think I'm going to land on the side of the biscuit.

We eat our croissants plain or with jam/jelly, and my kids love chocolat au pain for breakfast.

haha I hadn't even considered that UK/England have biscuits as (what we Americans) cookies. To us they are like dinner rolls. I'll post a picture tomorrow, you've just helped me figure out breakfast in the morning. :) (Biscuits and Gravy which I'll probably make a lens for)

I eat plain croissants from the bakery or Tim Horton's. Sometimes we order the ones with cheese. :)
