Crop Failures 2010 - Due to the BP Gulf Oil Spill

Ranked #8,104 in Culture & Society, #165,383 overall

Toxic rain from BP Gulf oil spill

Crops were damaged during the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill disaster, but most farmers probably hid the damage so they could continue on and sell their crops, even after poisonous rains watered them.

Isn't it frightening to think that in pursuit of an income, farmers had to choose between their financial well-being and the health of the American public?

American diets are not safe... because farmers will almost always choose their income even when they know that the foods they produce aren't good for us. Consider, for example, GM foods: soy, corn, wheat, and more.

Use of dispersal agents in the Gulf oil spill disaster spread toxins through the gulf and the ocean, poisoning the fish, yet those oil-enhanced fish were served in seafood restaurants. The poisons entered the atmosphere and came down as rain. Then the government and media covered it up.

The oil spill was one of the greatest ecological disasters in human history.

Oil in Your Food - Yes, It Really Happened

Your health was put at risk by big industry and government truth supression.

This is a March 2011 update to last year's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. See the articles below - the truth is finally coming out due to scientific inquiry.

Jerry Cope: NASA Data Strengthens Reports of Toxic Rain on the Gulf Coast From BP Spill
"I spoke to NASA scientist Ira Leifer at length about data collected during the oil spill last summer, strengthening claims that oil was brought onshore in rain during the spill."

A Suppressed News Story

...why isn't the mainstream media reporting on how corexit may be poisoning our crops?

Here you'll find information about one of those news stories that isn't getting much press in the mainstream media. There may come a time in the future when they won't be able to suppress the news, but for now, look for reports on YouTube, not on a major news broadcast.

What scares me most about this - is that many farmers won't hold back their crops because of the poisoned rains. They will need to make money, and will send those crops on to manufacturers and stores. People will probably be eating corexit-poisoned food crops like they're being served oil-spoiled seafood in restaurants.

Mainstream media tells us the oil disaster is over when independent reports state that the oil is still gushing but that a method of disguising and dispersing the oil has been developed. The gulf has been destroyed with poisons in the water, and they're now leaving the area to contaminate the Atlantic Ocean.

What a mess! This is the result of our greed for oil. There are so many to blame for this disaster... let's not go into that. But do watch your food supply and do what's best for yourself and your families.

Russian scientists report:

"Even worse, should a Katrina like tropical hurricane form in the Gulf of Mexico while tens of millions of gallons of Corexit 9500 are sitting on, or near, its surface the resulting "toxic rain" falling upon the North American continent could "theoretically" destroy all microbial life to any depth it reaches resulting in an "unimaginable environmental catastrophe" destroying all life forms from the "bottom of the evolutionary chart to the top".

Corexit 9500 is being used on the BP Gulf oil spill

...that's what is being blamed for possible crop failure.

Corexit 9500 contains propylene glycol, light petroleum distillates, and dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, a laxative - probably killing a lot of fish.

Because a dispersal agent is being used, gulf oil spill toxins will remain in the water instead of going to shore where they can be cleaned up.

I'm a CSA farmer in North West Alabama. In early July I noticed a thick, yellow haze over my farm. I became very sick with chronic coughing, fever, nausea and fatigue. Our tomatoes usually produce fruit until March here but stated turning yellow and dying in mid-July. Our bell peppers rot before they mature and the garden is in really bad shape. I called a temporary crop failure in August. The new seed beds I planted in mid-July never even germinated.

This is just another aspect of the deregulation ideology of recent decades. Banks and big business do need regulation, and the market doesn't always do the right thing.

I've been quietly seething over this incident. I'm glad you did this blog; if I had, I'm afraid it would be just too consuming for my psyche. Beware Mother Earth is angry and she is extracting her revenge. The avaricious ones caused this spill, but we will all pay.

What is even more important that this tragedy goes beyond damaging crops or beaches in the US. It affects the whole world, it's a ripple effect.
