Mix Breed Dogs

Lizzy is a fox terrier, border collie, staffy mix. She's just about a year and a half old now.

We got her soon after we moved into our 2 acre paradise. We were visiting one of the nearby towns and went into the pet shop there because we had seen a cute puppy in a pen outside. The shopkeeper came over and said, "do you like her? I'll give her to you. She eats so much I can't afford to feed her."

Apparently he had managed to sell all her siblings, but she was the last - how could anyone pass up this cutie I don't know. And she does have an appetite... or so we thought until Ella, our most recent mutt puppy came along and raised the bar on "eats a lot".

Although Lizzy was pen-mates with a rabbit who she seemed to get on well with, it didn't appear that she had been really well socialized with either dogs or people. She was also terrified of sticks, which we discovered as soon as we picked up a stick to throw to her. Someone in her first 3 months of life had obviously beaten and terrified her. For us, it didn't matter how much we had to spend feeding her, just the thought that we had saved her from being beaten or quite possibly put down made it all worth it.
