How To Make Plastic Canvas Cross Magnets

How To Make Cross Magnets with Plastic Canvas

I like working crafts with plastic canvas. I like them to be simple.

These cross magnets are simple and fast to put together.

They make great gifts for teachers, Sunday school teachers, co-workers, the mailman, friends and family. We've even used them for prizes at my church when we play Bible Bingo!

Instructions!

Cut pattern according to illustration.

1. Start your pattern in the top corner, using what is called the satin stitch. Starting in the 2nd square over.

2. Go down diaganal from that square to the 1st square on the 2nd row.

3. Come back across underneath to the 3rd square on the 1st row.

4. Go down to the 1st square on the 3rd row.

5. Come back up to the 4th square across.

6. Go to the 4th square down.

7. Go up to the 4th square across on the 2nd row.

8. Go down to the 2nd square over on the 4th row.

9. Go up to the 3rd square down on the 3rd row.

10. Now go to the 3rd square on the 4th row.

You have completed one pattern. Start this same pattern, opposite and fill in the cross completely. Please refer to the illustration on how the pattern should look.

Note: Going up and across on the back while making your pattern on the front will make the pattern look fuller.

To finish off your cross, whip stitch all the way around the edge. When you come to a corner, put 2 or 3 stitches to fully cover the corner. End by pulling your yarn through several rows of stitches on the back and cutting it off.

Add the magnet and you are done. CONGRATULATIONS, you have completed your cross magnet!
