Takashi Miike's Crows Zero about high school boys beating the crap out of each other is getting sequel - Crows Zero 2 (クローズ ZERO 2, Crows ZERO II) released on April 11, 2009. Takashi Miike is again in director's chair and Shun Oguri is reprising his role as a protagonist Genji Takiya. Yamada Takayuki, Takaoka Sousuke, Yabe Kyosuke, Kuroki Meisa and other main actors are also playing their old known characters.

Promising young star Miura Haruma and RIZE drummer Nobuaki Kaneko joins main cast.

Plot

The story is set about 8 months after the first movie. Genji is close to graduation at Suzuran High School, but one last matter must be settled with a rival school.

Genji (Shun Oguri) still hasn't quite managed to unify badass haven Suzuran High School under one leader due to a decisive loss to the mysterious Linda Man.

Unfortunately his goal of local domination must be put on hold when a long-standing truce with rival high school Housen Gakuen is suddenly broken. Led by the ferocious Taiga Narumi (Kaneko Nobuaki), Housen launches an all-out assault on Suzuran, throwing the reigning toughest school in all of Japan into a state of crisis. --- nipponcinema

The action is, accordingly, more realistic, right down to the gory-looking makeup and bone-crunching sound effects. Also, the group battle scenes, with hundreds of punks whaling on each other, have a scale and impact reminiscent of the gaudier clashes in "Braveheart," though no one gets their head lopped off with a sword.

Miike directs with an energy, velocity and cheeky bravado that are pure punk. He also understands why his Suzuran toughs fight as easily as they breathe - it's not just a release for their raging hormones, but a way of being with their friends and telling the world they exist.

Takashi Miike is a highly prolific and controversial Japanese filmmaker. He became one of the most talked about filmmakers in the international festival circuit after taking audiences on kinetically unhinged and frequently disturbing joyrides as Dead or Alive (2000) and Ichi the Killer (2001). He has directed over seventy theatrical, video, and television productions since his debut in 1991. Miike turned out an exhausting 24 films (including two television miniseries) between 1999 and 2002, confirming his status as one of the busiest directors in world cinema.

While Crows: Edisode 0 was based on comic book Crows by Hiroshi Takahashi, sequel inherited charachters from it's spin-off Worst.

RIZE drummer Nobuaki Kaneko plays the leader of Housen Gakuen - Narumi Taiga, an original character for the film. And Miura Haruma appears in the film as the first-year Housen student Tatsuya Mito.

The final battle in the sequel will involve 500 gang members.

"Crows ZERO" was redone as a manga. The comic was serialized in Weekly Champion, started with this year's 50th issue, on sale November 13.

it depends..
if some cinema company in Australia will bring it - then in theater, or wait for a DVD release - it should be out ..(no official release date yet).
