Cruise Advice #1 - Avoid Late Booking.
If you like to go on a cruise trip you should decide to book about 6 month before you actually like to travel.
Don't book your cruise too late or you can face a waiting list, or your desired cabin is not available and you have to downgrade.
You should book about 3 to 6 month in advance. Even by doing so you will get anyhow discounts and special prices and you will have all cabin options available.
Booking in a off-season will give you cheaper and better offers.

Cruise Advice #2 - Check Your Documents.
Somehow silly but it happens all the time that passengers can't go on a land trip due to missing documentations.
Be sure that you get from the Cruise Administrator a detailed list what countries you will visit and what documents, or visa you need. This depends on each cruise destination and is not always the same.
Leaving a port almost always means that you enter in international waters and in a other country, so you must have a valid passport and eventually required documentation (visa) to go on a land trip together with all your new friends on board.
Imagine you have to stay alone on board while the others are having fun shopping around.

Cruise Advice #3 - Choose Your Stateroom Wisely
I would like to alert you that the difference in prices from one stateroom to a other can be huge and has several reasons.
A cheape stateroom can be a real problem during your trip even if the lower rice seams to be a bargain.
Those rooms are normally close to a elevator, a bar or a disco, a restaurant, a gym etc.
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful trip you should avoid those cabins. Unless your budget won't allow any other (quiet) accommodation or you are on a fun cruise, looking for that kind of action.

Cruise Advice #4 - Mark Your Luggage.
If you never have been on a cruise you will be amazed how much luggage a few thousand people can bring to a trip.
And all will have to left off board by you and your colleagues. You will go to your cabin with your hand luggage only and will receive your main luggage later on (hopefully).
A great tip is that you somehow mark your luggage, in case it is a common piece like many others (black, blue, Brown), for that you can find it fast in case you have to.
Not only you can mix up your luggage, other people as well can pick up your's and find out the switch only when they arrive at their cabins.
Imagine what a time consuming task to find your luggage in such a case.
So a other great cruise advice will be: make your luggage stand out of the crowd.

Cruise Advice #5 - Be Careful About Land Trip Shopping.
You might think that all on the cruise ship is overpriced and you will have much better shopping opportunities at a land trip.
While this might be possible, you shouldn't count on that for sure.
The shops at the landing ports are prepared for the cruise tourists and can offer low quality products to similar prices. The products on the ship is for sure a high quality article.
Those shop owners know exactly that you are looking to buy a souvenir off board to save money, so open your eyes and be smart to check carefully what you buy.
Perhaps you can ask your friends (by now you sure made some) if they have some recommendations, if they are repeating cruisers they might know where to go for a save shopping experience.

Cruise Advice #6 - Before You Enjoy, Read The Fine Prints.
Be aware that "All Include" doesn't means that ALL is include.
Let me explain this better. Generally all meals are included in your cruise, but what's not part of the package is alcohol.
Wine, beer, liquor, whiskey etc. are not included in the offer and must be payed seperately at the end of the cruise trip.
So be prepared to pay extra for those consumptions, what requires that you check the prices first and drink what your budget can afford.
Then there is the tipping at the end of a cruise. Most of the salary of the cabin personel, the waiters and all directly in service involved persons comes from tips.
So be prepeared to pay to those people what they deserve, nicely explained on a little envelope, laying on your bed one night before the cruise trip ends. I know from experience that some folks (europeans principally) do have mayor problems paying tips, as it can sum up to a few hundred bucks.
It's NOT a must by any agreement you signed, but the staff will basically work for free if nobody would give them a tip.
Always verify all fine prints in the contract prior to the cruise trip. Avoiding surprises is a other good cruise advice I can give you.

Cruise Advice #7 - Eat As Often As You Can.
This sounds like I wish that you gain weight. By the contrary (see below more).
What I mean is that you should eat often, about 6 times a day a smaller meal rather then only 2 - 3 times a bigger meal. This actually will help you keep your weight under control and is healthier.
Here is a shocking truth :

If you would like to avoid this, I recommend that you read here below a quick review about a great guide which will help you perfectly with this.

Cruise Advice - How To Lose Weight While Eating Like Royalty On a Cruise
This is a review about a great guide I highly recommend to you.
Who already have been on a cruise trip before know how opulent and generous the food offer is. There are all the time some buffets to choose from and you could literally eat 24 hrs a day.
While the meals, lunches and pizza buffets etc. are "al included" in your package, they still have a price, which you have to pay over overweight on your gut and backside.
A guy named Michael Webb has written a new book, "How To Lose Weight While Eating Like Royalty On a Cruise" which I will shortly review here for you. Let's find out about if you should get this.
The book claims you can lose weight without exercise and still enjoy delicious food. Basically it's marketed with the "lose weight without really trying" angle. Upon first glance, this seems like total BS but there's actually more than meets the eye to Michael's book.
Here's why:
The reason it can be easy to lose weight while being on a luxurious cruise is because, while on a ship, you're already doing plenty of fat-burning exercise every day. Things like walking around the ship, shopping, swimming, rock climbing, snorkeling, scuba diving, dancing at midnight discos the list goes on. The problem comes from making bad food choices too often and eating too much.
Michael's book goes through all the necessary steps to ensure you don't gain weight and might even lose weight while enjoying your vacation.
The first half of the book contains a mix of both basic and not-so-well-known tips to keep the weight off, while the second half suggests ways to add more activities and exercise to your cruise. I especially loved the tips in the exercise section on ways to AUTOMATICALLY exercise more by making some very smart choices early on.
All in all, this book is quite a light read and you should be able to speed through it in about an hour.
If you're planning on taking a cruise, I highly recommend you check out this book:

BONUS OFFER:

I really recommend this over my Cruise Advice.

- Nice lens, very good info, I'm off on a South Pacific cruise in 4 weeks on the Pacific Dawn which is being called unfortunately the Swine flu ship (quarantined at sea for a while!). I went on this ship last year and had a wonderful holiday. I looking forward to this trip very much swine flu or no swine flu. I work in a hospital emergency room, so I'm more likely to catch it from work!
