Robinson Crusoe's Life Lessons
Below are some things that Crusoe learned from his experience. What can you learn?
- Sanity Crusoe teaches a valuable lesson about keeping your sanity. He does this by creating routine. Everyday he does similar things to create satisfaction and accomplishment. People feel good when they get things done! For Crusoe this involves exercise through walking, gathering food, and exploring or making something.
- Creation Robinson Crusoe creates. Much like art, writing, blogging, or other hobbies help you to find joy. These are hobbies that allow your mind to be the master. When creating you become engaged and alive. Try it! Write something, draw something, make something in your home better. Organize something a new way. It will make you feel better. Crusoe did this with his habitation, baskets, boats, and clothing. Robinson Crusoe was constantly faced with challenges regarding limited resources or know how. To this he worked and worked until he could create it himself. He made canoes and worked to even make a summer cottage. It was through Crusoe's creations that he found constant satisfaction with his life.
- Providence. God has a hand in all that we do. After understanding the way that Robinson Crusoe was saved so many times miraculously, we can look into our own lives for times we were helped. The Bible becomes a source of guidance and help for Robinson after he realizes God's divine hand in the placement of his island and his life upon it with rather opportune resources and circumstances.

I might be able to. I would like to think I am inventive enough to be able to fish and to find food, to make fire somehow, but I think in some ways I might go stir crazy as well...
