Initially, the album was due to be released in early 2011, but it was agreed that it would be made available during December, 2010.
The first single lifted from Farmer's Daughter was originally intended to be Hold On, a song written by former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi in collaboration with Nickleback band member, Chad Kroeger. However, this was changed to the album's title track.
Another song of interest is Mason, one written by Ms. Bowersox along with her husband, Brian Walker, which they performed together at their wedding.

This debut album contains eight songs written solely by Crystal, two co-writes, an additional track by Kara DioGuardi and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger titled Hold On. There is also a cover of Buffalo Springfield's 1967 classic For What It's Worth. One very special song is Mason, a track Bowersox co-wrote with her husband Brian Walker, which they performed together at their recent nuptials.

- She was one of my favorites on Idol. I hope she does well. Saw her on a TV drama the other night. She did pretty good acting in the role of a drug addict in prison who had a little daughter.

- I am just not sure I have heard of her before. But I always seem to know which stars are going to make it because when I listen to someone that gives me chills, that has always meant I will hear more of their music. The intro song gave me chills! Good job on this page!
