Shamanic Star Stones, Mochi Marbles or Moqui Balls...what are they really?
Ranked #3,480 in Healthy Living, #67,509 overall
Have you heard about the power of these ancient stones?
These stones are variously known as Shaman Stones, Mochi Marbles or Moqui Balls. They can be found in two places in the western areas of the United States, although more commonly at the Navajo Sandstone Formations. Geologically speaking, these stones are an oddity. When cut through the middle you will reveal a hematite shell with a concretion of sandstone in the centre. They are believed to be among the most energetic stones on earth. Their major properties are claimed to be cleansing, relaxation, and they provide a great boost to meditation and astral journeying.
Each stone is said to have its own distinct energy which depends in part its size and gender. Gender is linked to the motion of a pendulum when it is held directly above the stones. If it moves in a linear direction the stone is male; a circular motion indicates a female stone. Small stones are believed to have faster, more vibrant energy while the larger ones have a slower, deeper energy. However, you need to be conscious of the fact that every stone is different.
To take advantage of the stones energy you need to lie down and relax, holding a stone in your hand, or one in each hand. If you're receptive to its energy you'll soon feel warmth coming up your arms. Then, depending on your intentions and your mood, all kinds of fascinating things can begin to happen... or maybe you'll just faze out of consciousness for a while.

A bit more history about Shaman Stones.
Mochi Marbles, Moqui Balls pronounced(Mo-Key), or Shaman Stones are believed to have various metaphysical properties, however, in this section we are going to deal with the mundane and physical qualities. These stones consist of an outer shell of hematite (iron oxide) congealed around a sandstone centre. The sandstone centre may be stained in red or yellow from the iron oxides leaching into the sand. Occasionally there are extra rings of hematite in the center. Moqui marbles are also known as navajo cherries, indian marbles or just plain balls.Moqui Marbles formed in the lower part of the Navajo Sandstone Formation found predominantly in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. Part of the Navajo Sandstone Formation was laid down approximately 190 million years ago at the commencement of the Jurassic era. While we know when, where and what they formed form, this is yet little geological information to provide an explanation on how these stones are formed. It is highly likely that they formed at a time when the original sand dunes, now the Navajo Sandstone formation, were underwater.
The iron in the moqui marbles may originally have been a substance called Limonite. This is a hydrous ferric iron oxide, which is known to form a gel when under pressure. The sand in the Navajo formation ranged between 300 - 600 metres (1000-2000 feet) deep with a sea above it. At these depths there would have been a tremendous amount of pressure produce; enough to cause the limonite to form a gel. It is also known that heat can change Limonite to Hematite, a stable form of Iron oxide. This then solidified around a core of compressed sand.

But wait...there's more to know about Shamanic Star Stones.
Unlike most crystals, Moqui balls don't need any special care. They are thought to realign the energy centers, relieve energy blockage, stimulate Chi energy, ground, center and protect a person who wears one on their body or carries one or more on their person. The stones are equally balanced between grounding and energizing and can act as a connector to the Earth's energies.

This is how Newlife2love cleanses her Star Stones.
Whenever I clean any of my stones I:1. cover them in sand from the beach or river;
2. let stones cleanse in sand for 3 days;
3. bring them out of the sand and wash thoroughly;
4. then set them in a sunny window or hang them in a tree to be freshly charged; and
5. you can use hemp twine to hang the stones and use bees wax as a glue for your string.

- I have seen the Boji Stones or Shaman Stones in our local "Stone Keepers" store. In fact the official store dog is named Boji. I did not know much about them or that they were called Moqui Balls. Thanks for the info.
