The revitalization of Crystal Cove

Awaken to the sound of crashing waves and seagulls calling their family together for breakfast. Sit out on your private deck and watch a sunset with a glorious bottle of California wine that you picked up at the neighborhood Trader Joe's Market. The community of Crystal Cove is half way between the artisan seaside village of Laguna Beach and the posh community of Newport Beach. While public services are limited to a local Beachcomber Cafe, the Shake Shack and gift shop, the local shopping center Crystal Cove Promenade is a short walk away.

Stay in one of the 22 cottages that have been loving restored to their original charm. Each one is different from the next. The only thing that has changed is that everything is fresh and functional with modern conveniences. But the architecture and charm of each cottage remains. The other 26 cottages will be revitalized one at a time from private donations. Each cottage is ocean front - right on the beach! No other place along the California coast offers this combination of proximity and nostalgia.

Or just stop by for a picnic or lunch at the Beachcomber Cafe. Every night at 5:00 pm they raise the martini drink flag (with a trumpet salute) as they have on this very same spot since the 1930's. It signals that happy hour has begun. Grab a cocktail and watch the amazing sunset!

These images started out as photographs of the then dilapidated and condemned seaside colony of Crystal Cove. They were taken in 2004 when the colony was closed to the public. Recently, we took these photographs and revitalized them using multiple natural media filters which created these fine art images.
