Creatives in South West England

Ranked #47,118 in Arts & Design, #1,612,467 overall

Describes what is happening with creatives in South West England. Also attempts to link to Cafe Press. Experimental at the moment. My other lenses are mostly hard information but it seems most of Squidoo tends towards guidance on how to do something. This lens may help to interest more people near where I live in Exeter UK.

The South West is miles away from London where most UK media are based. There is a lot happening in Bristol and also European funding for fantastic buildings such as the Tate in St Ives. Exeter is somewhere in the middle of all this so people do drop by on the way to somewhere else.

The light in Cornwall is excellent, it comes from both coasts. There are a lot of creatives west of Bristol though some of them commute.

New The Link List

Creative Gateway
Links to many organisations and sources.
Launches in June
Tate St Ives
Worth a visit even if it is not raining
Encounters Bristol
Short films and animation. Is there an overlap? Compositing seems to happen anyway with most moving images shown digitally.
Lost weekend
As there is no Glastonbury this year, Lost Vagueness will turn up near Exeter in June.
Life Bytes
Internet resource centre opposite the Oden on Sidwell Street in Exeter. Check your email and ask for advice on anything creative that might be happening.
Jazcott inkjet printing service
Jazcott could be seen as a cottage industry version of Cafe Press. Not sure about this. This lens is under construction like the Jazcott site.
Jurassic Coast artworks
Painting from the Jurassic Coast in different formats, prints, coasters, fridge magnets. An example of Jazcott at work. This is moving away from the limited edition idea. Epson 7 colour Ultrachrome estmated to last for 75 years. Why not go back in 60 years time and try to ask for another one?

Wi-fi in Exeter has got to be free

Not forgetting paid access at Life Bytes

Checking out that the future model for wi-fi is free access paid for by sales of coffee etc. Taking Exeter as an example, there is almost no use at all of the IT boxes in pubs, costing maybe £6 an hour. The Phoenix and Thistle on Queen Street both have coffee. The library is also free.
Life Bytes still cheaper than an IT box and they may have a case about security.
