A tribute to Laurel and Hardy
Cuckoo Dancing Week, a tribute to Laurel and Hardy. People are tired of winter, get some fun being in doors with this holiday.
Some only celebrate it one day (January 13) and others celebrate it for a week(January 11-17). They made many films together. The duo's signature tune, known variously as "The Cuckoo Song", "Ku-Ku", or "The Dance of the Cuckoos", played on the opening credits of their films. Was composed by Roach musical director Marvin Hatley. Laurel heard the tune on the station, and asked Hatley to use it as the Laurel and Hardy theme song. In Laurel's eyes, the song's melody represented Hardy's character (pompous and dramatic), while the harmony represented Laurel's own character

A little bit about The Slipstick Couple
Laurel and Hardy was one of the earliest comedy acts in American. Englishman Stan Laurel and heavy American Oliver Hardy, they became well known during the late 1920s (the end of the silent era of film) to the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy. They were the few that made it from silent films into the talking films. They still did alot of visual acting with some talking. They knew of the problems in the beginning with poor sound and worked around it.In post-World War II Europe, Laurel and Hardy were enjoying a new popularity with audiences that were unable to see their movies during wartime. While filming in 1951 both started to have health problems. Laurel was hospitalized while making the film for a few medical problems. The last film Atoll K, took a year to make instead of 12 weeks as promised.
Together In Films
They did 107 short films ranging from 1921 thru 1951.
They started silent films start in 1921 and run through 1929. In that time period they did 32 film. Starting with their first one, The Lucky Dog. It would be another six years before they would do another film. In that year they did Duck Soup, Sailors, Beware!, Sugar Daddies, The Battle of the Century. With one of them being lost, Hats Off.
In 1929 they would start doing talking films as Unaccustomed As We Are. You can still watch one of their films if you are lucky enough to know what channel and time it will show. They are getting fewer apart on showing them.
