When U.S. Airways Express Captain Jim Levings used to walk through an airplane cabin during a flight, it occurred to him that passengers really struggle to keep warm with the standard blankets used by airlines. Levings believes that "the blankets are too small, they're the wrong shape for the human body, and they do nothing to warm cold feet."

This lead Levings to have a vision of a blanket that would be contoured so that it would wrap around a passenger's body and that would also have a foot pocket in which a person's feet could stay warm and cozy. Levings was so compelled to respond to this travel need that he left his job as a pilot and, with the help of his family, designed the Cabin Cuddler travel blanket.
