Holy guacamole! I was a disbeliever, but now that I have this Cuisinart immersion blender, I am a True Believer. It is substantial yet quiet, and it works really, really well. It is easy to clean as the blender piece pops right off. I love that I can just place it into the pot and puree my soup right there! Awesome! Carrot soup, cauliflower soup, sweet potato soup have all fallen under my spell with this magic wand. Recommended.

This is a great machine... Although it is somewhat larger than our old stick blender, there is something to be said for size, it does matter. With 9 speeds you can do almost anything. Frozen drinks are a snap. It crushes ice better than a hammer. Clean-up is easy and quick. This is a heavy duty machine that will be used often.

Owners and experts agree that the Cuisinart SmartStick CSB-76 hand blender is the best choice for making sauces, smoothies and soups. Reviews found it was lighter weight and easier to use than similar models by other manufacturers. The SmartStick is a basic immersion blender, with a single speed. Some more expensive models, including the KitchenAid KHB300 (*Est. $80), can extend their functionality by including various attachments (a chopper, a whisk), but if you don't think you'll use those attachments, the Cuisinart stick blender is a better bet. Since it has just a single speed, it's not the best choice for tasks where you want to vary the speed, and reviewers say it doesn't chop nuts very well. One plus is Cuisinart's limited three-year warranty that surpasses the warranty on KitchenAid hand blenders.

Since they are both very similar in performance I would choose the kitchen-aid. Why? It's made in the USA while Cuisinart is made in China. Even if the Kitchen aid was rated lower I would still buy it for this reason alone. However the best hands down is the Bamix.

My wedding gift mixer (a Sunbeam Mixmaster) turned 33 a week before Christmas, and my husband thought it was time for me to have a new one. He gifted me on Christmas with the KitchenAid 5 Qt. Artisan in white. I love this mixer and leave it out on my counter, something I never did with the Mixmaster. I recently purchased the citrus juicer attachment from Amazon and am very pleased with it as well. I have not read all 109 previous reviews on this site, but I have read a few that were disgruntled because their Artisans did not mix well.
