Is Rendezvous Bay a Windy Beach?
Rendezvous Bay has a reputation as a "windy" beach, and there may be some truth to that.
There is definitely a steady breeze on Rendezvous Bay when we visit in June. On our last visit the wind speed averaged about 8-10 knots. There was one morning that the beach umbrellas had to be closed for a short time. That morning the wind speed was between 12-15 knots.
However, we find the breeze on Rendezvous Bay to be a welcome refreshment after the sweltering stifling hot we've experienced on some of the other beaches, Shoal Bay East as an example, in June.
If you do visit Shoal Bay East head to Gwen's. You'll generally find a nice breeze there and a few empty hammocks under the palm trees.
