~ HOW TO NAVIGATE THIS LENS ~
Here's a brief rundown that will guide you in navigating this lens - content is updated daily so visit often!:
LEARN MORE ABOUT REIKI: Reiki is translated as "universal life energy". Why do people "reiki"? What does it feel like?
EXPERIENCING REIKI: PRE- AND -POST SESSION CARE: People have often asked me, "How do I prepare for my session?", "Do I have to do anything special while being 'reikied'?", "What should I do after my session?" Other than drinking a healthy amount of water after your session to help with the flushing out process, the answers to these questions are highly personal. Some people come purely for stress reduction, deep relaxation, and pain management; others have integrated reiki into a spiritual healing journey. The people that I have worked with tend to come for a mixture of both. Based on my own experience with reiki, I will share with you a process that I have personally found to be meaningful along my journey. Feel free to incorporate any elements that feel comfortable for you.
ARTICLES & OTHER ONLINE GEMS: From articles in Wired to the Global Intelligencer... from the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research program to Boeing's Physics Lab, you may be as delighted and surprised by how consciousness has made it into the laboratory. YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON "HOW TO MEDITATE": People often ask, "So how do you meditate? The only time I get a break from my thoughts is when I'm sleeping!" Some interesting meditation techniques are shared by Dattatreya Siva Baba. (How many Siddha Masters do you know of who are this hip to youtube and have a twitter account?) More meditation techniques will be added....

LEARN MORE ABOUT REIKI
Reiki (pronounced "ray-kee) is an energy therapy that may be applied to anyone, including people and animals. Reiki is a very gentle, non-intrusive practice of using light touch to deeply relax the body, allowing it to heal & rebalance itself naturally.
*** WHAT IS "REIKI"? ***Translated as "universal life energy," Reiki describes a system for working with energy that helps stimulate the body's own natural healing process. The methodology for hand positioning was introduced in late 19th century Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui and his closest student, Chujiro Hayashi, a retired naval commander and surgeon.
While reiki provides great benefits for issues such as pain management and emotional stress, you don't have to be sick or "feeling badly" to get reiki. Reiki is great for preventative and general maintenance, and it helps keep you balanced. It is finding acceptance as a complement to U.S. medicine for healing and recovery for difficult procedures such as chemotherapy and surgery. Delaware Valley hospitals with reiki practitioners on staff (doctors and/or nurses) include Thomas Jefferson University, Bryn Mawr, and Lankenau Hospitals. [Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer: "Reiki, a Japanese practice of clearing away negative energy, is finding acceptance in U.S. medicine. Its claims are being tested in clinical trials", published July 3, 2006]
*** WHAT IS MY RELATIONSHIP WITH ENERGY? ***
This relationship takes place in ways that we may not even fully understand. A practical approach is to ask yourself this question: "How am I feeling in this moment?" (Note that this is not the same as asking, "What am I thinking about?") What are you feeling? And where in your body are you feeling it?
There exists an energy link between your emotional and physical states. People experiencing chronic stress - how does this manifest in their bodies? People experiencing peace and well-being - how does this manifest in their bodies? And collectively, how does your energy relate in your family life and workplace - as well as at the national and global levels?
You create your reality through your relation to life energy - whether you do so consciously or not.
*** WHAT DOES A REIKI SESSION FEEL LIKE? ***
If this is your first session, you are encouraged to approach the experience without any expectations of what it's "supposed to feel like". If you've had a reiki session before, remember that each experience is different. Simply relax and let the reiki do all the work. Reiki is a non-invasive, completely safe, and non-manipulative form of energy therapy. Of utmost importance is your comfort: Fully clothed, you may lay on your back or stomach or sit in a chair.
EXPERIENCING REIKI: PRE- AND -POST SESSION CARE:
Based on my own experience with reiki, I will share with you a process that I have personally found to be meaningful along my journey. Feel free to incorporate any elements that feel comfortable for you.
(1) Wear comfortable clothes; you'll be removing your shoes before the session.
(2) Bring a bottle of water.
(3) Please set your cell phone to silent (or turn it off).
(4) Think about what you would like to get out of the session. The clearer you are with your intentions, the more open you can be to receiving healing energy.
(5) Think about all the people and experiences that you are grateful for. Why? There is a saying "So within, so without." It means that your outer reality is a reflection of your inner reality. When your inner reality is one of gratefulness and appreciation, rather than criticism and worry, imagine what experiences you would draw into your life.
(6) (Optional) Bring a notebook / journal. You may want to write down your intentions for the session.
*** WHAT TO DO DURING YOUR REIKI SESSION ***
Above all: Be comfortable. If you get thirsty, need a tissue, want the music turned up or down, wish to change positions, need to go to the bathroom, etc., let your practitioner know.
You are encouraged to:
(1) remove your watch, eyeglasses, and jewelry;
(2) keep your hands and feet uncrossed during the session;
(3) clear your mind and "belly breathe" during the session. If you have ever tried to meditate, you may be well familiar with the challenge of maintaining a clear head because we are so used to thinking during most of our waking time. When you feel thoughts coming in, that's okay. They are a natural part of your releasing process. One suggestion is to say the word "thinking" in your mind or out loud when this happens, come back to focusing on your breathing, and clear your mind again. Listen to your body, and feel it from within.
You give your attention to many areas in your life, including family, friends, work. Remember that this session is for you to give attention and bring awareness into yourself.
*** WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR REIKI SESSION ***
(1) Drink lots of water to help with the flushing out process.
(2) If you brought your journal, you may want to write down what you experienced.
(3) In the week following your session, be mindful of your energy and how you relate to your intentions & manifestations. Chronicling your daily experiences in a journal may be helpful.
(4) Remember to create "me time" on a daily basis. You are the creator of your experience whether you are conscious of it or not. Do so mindfully and with intention. Be grateful, be generous.

HOW TO MEDITATE?
The art of "getting into the gap between thoughts" requires daily exercise. Treat it like a muscle!
Many of these videos are from from Dattatreya Siva Baba (http://www.sivababa.org/), the enlightened Siddha Master who introduced Dr. Wayne Dyer to the practice of japa - a spiritual discipline involving the meditative repetition of a mantra (name of God).
For me, his techniques have provided a structure for visualizations while meditating which helps keep "mind chatter" more easily at bay. Ever tried yoga? It feels like my mind is holding a yogic pose for a relatively sustained period. Have an open mind and try it - I found it to be a unique sensation and will experiment with it daily over the long-term.
