Travel In Bolivia

This lens is all about promoting Bolivia as a travel destination. Why not break from the norm and give Peru a rest, and Machu Picchu a breather.
Bolivia has much to offer the traveler, and in many ways is a more 'authentic' and 'culturally' intact option. Swiss Bolivian Adventures is a Tour Operator based in La Paz Bolivia, and we are dedicated to providing, responsible and sustainable, tours. Where ever possible we actively promote fair-trade products and our aim is always to benefit the community directly involved with our tours. Tourism in Bolivia is still a very young business in global terms and we realize that is our responsibility to protect and preserve all our communities, and attractions as much as we can. We hope one day as a result of reading this lens we will see you there and show you the amazing sites Bolivia has to offer! www.andes-bolivia.ch

This Weeks Show Case Tour

Salar de Uyuni "The Worlds Largest Salt Flat"

WHITE DESERTS, LAGOONS OF COLOUR...

In the southwest of the department of Potosí, in the provinces Quijarro, Daniel Campos, and Nor and Sur Lipez, is Salar De Uyuni. It covers a surface area of 10.582 km2 and is located 3653m A.B.S.L. Uyuni Salt is the largest single salt pan in the world. It is estimated to contain 10 Billion tons of salt of which only 25,000 tons are extracted anually.
Uyuni is so vast and so flat, (it rises and falls just metre over an area the size of Wales), that N.A.S.A use the flats to calibrate their satelites.
The Salar De Uyuni is also an integral part of the plot line in the latest James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace".
This will be the farthest away from Earth you will feel while you still have your feet on this planet!
