Cuneiform: The term applied to the arrow-headed characters found in Assyria, Persia and Mesopotamia, dating back thousands of years.
Wedge Shaped Inscriptions
The characters. each of which is in the form of a wedge, were developed by earlier ideographs, and generally speaking they represent, not individual letters, but syllables or entire words.
The writing was impressed in clay.
