Cupcakes Gourmet

I first met Maki Evans at a Bible Study in 2008. I soon found she was a wonderful baker and a delightful person, and I learned how she and Heather started the business.

In early 2006, Maki's daughter Chloe was born. Originally the doctors thought Chloe had a rare form of eye cancer. Miraculously, Chloe turned out to be fine. Maki threw a big party for Chloe's first birthday and baked over 100 cupcakes to celebrate. She got such rave reviews that she considered opening a cupcake business. At about the same time, Maki's friend Heather had to provide food for a church celebration. She decided to make cupcakes and enlisted Maki's help making them. They had such a good time, and the cupcakes were so well received they launched a cupcake baking business. In 2007, Cupcakes Gourmet was born. Maki and Heather started baking cupcakes and experimenting with cupcake decorations in Maki's kitchen. In April 2008, they opened their first store in Malvern, PA. They won "Best of Philly" (Philadelphia Magazine) in 2008.

When I had my 6th baby, I was priviledged to have Maki bring me a meal. To my delight (and the delight of my other children) Maki provided 2 dozen mini gourmet cupcakes in assorted flavors for dessert. I can assure you that these cupcakes are the best I have ever tasted!
