Appealing Front Yard Landscapes

Free and easy landscaping tips and ideas for creating curb appeal for your home landscape.

Front Yard Basics

The term "curb appeal" is a generic real estate term coined for preparing the front yard of a home for sale. However, having a properly designed and proportionate front yard landscape design that accents your home should be a desireable virtue for everyone.

While landscaping for curb appeal focuses on just the landscape design elements, every aspect on the front of your home including painting and repairs should be considered.

Unlike backyard landscaping ideas, the front yard has to consider access, parking, safety, and invitation. Accenting access and parking areas such as walkways and driveways with a few flower beds and borders will, in most cases, instantly create an impressive and inviting appeal.

A large expanse of lawn can be impressive all on its own but generally needs a little more to add distinction, definition, and a good first impression. Something as simple as adding flower borders to a large expanse of lawn can do wonders.

Two picture galleries that I've put together for you at the free landscaping pictures gallery and the landscaping ideas pictures gallery will give you thousands of examples of front yards and how lawns and borders work together.

All season interest is an important aspect that most folks overlook. Knowing a little about the plants in your area and planting some evergreen and semi-evergreen plants can generally give your home some interest in all seasons.

Another way to create interest is through designing with your hardscape materials. We have a really cool design idea where we demonstrate this at landscaping for curb appeal. Take a look at it to see what I'm talking about.

Keep in mind that simplicity is key to creating curb appeal. A few flower beds that border and define walks, curbs, and lawn areas and a few flower pots next to the home is often enough.

Good Stuff From A Front Yard Expert

This is a good front yard ideas book from Kevin Wood. Kevins business specializes in helping people sell their homes so he has a lot of good simple landscaping ideas for creating curb appeal.

Along with my own free picture galleries mentioned above, I recommend this ebook to all home owners that are looking to beautify the landscape in front of their house. Between both resources, you should be able to easily create a landscape that makes an awesome first impression.

You can get your own copy at front yard landscape design book.

Another perk of this ebook is that it comes with a free landscape software program. While I won't give the software a whole lot of glory, I will say that it is as good as if not better than most consumer brand softwares out there.

The software alone is worth the cost of this resource. It's user friendly and can help you visualize your design project.
