There are several causes of hitting chili dip golf shots. The information and videos on this web site will help you cure your problem of hitting fat golf shots.

I used to have a terrible problem with hitting fat golf shots. Through parctice and concentration I now hit clean, crisp golf shots - more often than not.

You can too! Below I have listed the best advice and three great videos that will explain: what causes chili dip golf shots and how to prevent yourself from hitting fat golf shots.

I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me.

The Cure For Chili Dip Golf Shots

Stopping yourself from hitting the golf ball fat can be easier to fix than you might think. Ultimately, hitting the ball fat is caused by your back shoulder dipping towards the ground, forcing the golf club to hit the ground too early. This most often happens because you are trying to hit the ball too hard. Think about having a 200 yard shot and hitting it with a 4 iron. If you think you have to hit the ball hard to go that far, your natural tendency will be to use your hips too much in the downswing to "really get into the ball". That is a good baseball move, but not a good golf move.

Let me show you what happens if you make that move playing golf. Get in a good setup position and take your normal back swing and hold it at the top. Now turn your hips only toward the target, and how that causes your back shoulder to "dip". That shoulder "dip" will cause a chili dip golf swing every time. You will hit behind the ball 90% of the time, and even if you do make crisp contact, you'll probably end up with a horrible slice. Lateral movement is not good in the golf swing.

Get to the top, keeping your leading arm as straight as possible. Now start down at the ball with your leading arm fully extended. Your head hasn't moved laterally, and your hips haven't moved laterally. Now to take this to the next step, imagine the entire golf swing, through impact, occurring underneath the upper body.

Concentrate on keeping your front shoulder strong and "down" on the ball. This will enable you to keep your swing on the correct plane, and it will help your hands to keep up with your body. Don't let that shoulder come up and away from the target before impact as that will cause your body to get ahead of your hands leading to fat shots and slices.
